Oct. 4 - Salem Community College Health Fair

 

 

SCC Health Fair to offer free screenings and pertinent information

 

CARNEYS POINT TWP., N.J. -- Students from Salem Community College's Associate Degree in Nursing program will sponsor a Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Student Union, Donaghay Hall, 460 Hollywood Ave., from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 

Co-sponsored by the Salem County Department of Health and Human Services, the Health Fair will offer blood sugar and cholesterol screenings at no cost, while supplies last. Medical Assistant students from the Salem County Vocational Technical Schools will do blood pressure and heart rate/respiration readings, and share literature on high blood-pressure warning signs. Woodstown Massage therapist Sherwood Thomas will offer chair massages.

 

In addition, SCC nursing students will share information on Lyme's Disease, obesity, childhood vaccines, sexually transmitted diseases, workplace stress, prenatal care, suicide prevention, first aid, drug addiction, communicable disease and hand washing, breast cancer and home safety-falls.  

 

The Health Fair immediately follows the Alumni Association Walk and Fun Run at 8:30 a.m.

Oct. 9 - Chamber's Meet the Candidates VENDORS Wanted

 

 

 

The Chamber's Meet the Candidates event is coming up on October 9. We have opportunities for businesses to display vendor tables in the Business Expo at the event. SCC Alumni 10th Annual Walk and Fun Run 10/4

Please join the SCC Alumni Association for the 10th annual Walk and Fun Run on Saturday morning Oct. 4 at 8:30in front of Tillis Hall.  Proceeds will again benefit the Association's Book Grant Fund, now supporting 12 students a year.   Since 2005, the Walk has raised over $10,500 for book grants.   The Walk an Fun Run is the largest fund-raiser of the year for this cause.    

 

The registration form and pledge sheet are attached.  The $15 registration fee entitles you to an event t-shirt.  Even if you cannot participate, please consider a donation to support our students.    

 

The Walk and Fun Run will be followed by the nursing students' Health Fair from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. in the Student Union.  More details to follow.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Hold Car Raffle 10/12/14

            

            Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties will host their annual Car Raffle on October 12th at the Harvest Festival in Rosenhayn, NJ. On the day of the event, Big Brothers Big Sisters will pick the name of a lucky winner and it could be you! The winner of the raffle will have their choice of a 2014 Chevy Camaro 2LT Convertible, a 2014 Cadillac SRX, a 2014 Dodge Ram, a pair of 2015 Harley Davidson Motorcycles, a pair of 2014 Jeep Patriots, a pair of 2014 Chevy Sparks, a 2014 Buick Lacrosse or mix it up!

Duck Supper to Benefit Ranch Hope Nov. 8

           

 

 

Our church, Aldine UMC, is holding our 82nd Annual Duck Supper which benefits Ranch Hope, Inc. on November 8th.  We were wondering if we would be able to advertise this on the Chambers Happenings.  Attached is a copy of our flier.  We would appreciate any help since this is Ranch Hope's 50th anniversary, we would like to make this the biggest & best duck supper.

 

 

 

 

          

 

  Town & Country Golf Links Tournament to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters

                Town & Country Golf Links in Woodstown, NJ will hold a golf tournament that will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties. The tournament will be held on Sunday, October 5th. Registration will begin promptly at 8:00 am with the tournament starting at 9:00 am. Every golfer will receive a dozen Pinnacle Golf Balls. The player entry fee is $130 which includes 18 holes of golf & cart, Breakfast & coffee at registration and buffet lunch with beer and refreshments. Foursomes are $500.

                All golfers should wear proper golf attire which would be no jeans, t-shirts or metal spike golf shoes. Prizes will be given to longest drives, first and second place teams and closest to the pin. Hole-In-One Prizes are a 2014 Cadillac and a $5,000 cash prize! The proceeds of this event will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties and help change children's live for the better, forever. Don't miss this fun-filled day!
