Results from Sunday's Special Congregational Meeting!
(June 4)

Over 70 people attended the special congregational meeting and voted unanimously to accept the Building Team & Council's proposal to move ahead with a three year plan (see below) and the next phase of the Building & Renovation - "Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future" project.
Building committee member, Sam Statz, gave a three minute slide overview on "How We Got Here" emphasizing the history of the building project up to this point and stressing that "it is not just about the parking lot but about the people, education, fellowship, worship space and it's quality of visual and audio capabilities."
Council President, Kevin Knutsen, stated that this special meeting was convened to:
1.  Share the recommendations with the congregation
2.  Discuss the proposals
3.  Vote on approval

The Building Committee and Church Council recommendations that were voted on and unanimously accepted are:

SUMMER/FALL 2017
-      Finish parking lot; approximate cost $80,000-$90,000
-      Update Sanctuary's sound system
-      Install projectors, projection screens, monitors
-      Install hearing loop system
-      Update narthex area with better speakers and monitors to handle worship overflow; approximate cost $130,000-$140,000

SUMMER 2018/2019
-      Renovate and expand narthex using sweat equity to save on overall costs (demolition & clean-up done by congregation to save 15%-20% of project
expenses)
-      Enclose courtyard area with a roof.

SUMMER 2020
-      Begin capital campaign to raise funds to expand the Sanctuary, education rooms and required sprinkler fire protection system.

**A slide presentation was shared to illustrate of narthex design with open walls and with additional seating.  These photos can be viewed online, on the kiosk near the nursery or at the end of this message.
Council President, Kevin Knutsen, stressed the importance of congregational "sweat equity" and getting all involved from the skilled to the non-skilled.
Please continue to keep this ministry project in your prayers:
Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future - Campaign Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us, especially the gift of eternal life by faith in Your Son Jesus Christ.  No other common bond can draw diverse people together like our congregation gathered around Jesus.
As our congregation continues to grow, we have prayerfully decided to expand and enhance our building.  Please guide us as we move forward with our building renovation campaign to reach out to our members for prayers and financial gifts.  May this project be a labor of love and fulfill the mission of Your church.  Amen

Pastor Nate

Readings for this Week

Here are this week's readings. Sermon and scripture retention and application on Sunday morning jumps dramatically for those who read and engage the scripture during the week prior. (Click on the readings to find them online or use your Bible.)

Questions for Matthew 28:16-20 -  The Great Commission & Holy Trinity Sunday

1)      What are the challenges of understanding the Holy Trinity?
2)    What happens on the mountain?
3)    Why do you think the disciples doubted in v. 17? (Read vs 81-10)
Where else have we seen doubt in the Bible? (Hint: Thomas after Jesus' resurrection, Sarah & Abraham doubted God would help them conceived after childbearing years, more...?)
When have you doubted God?  When has God surprised you to overcome your doubt and fears?
4)    What are the actions verbs Jesus uses for us as disciples to do (vs 18ff)?

(***Note:  You will not find the word "Trinity" anywhere in the Bible, but you will hear relational language that Jesus speaks about God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and how they abide in one another.)

Congratulations to
all of our Graduates

Christian Education Classes!!!

All children ages Pre-K to 9th grade will need to be registered for the 2017/2018 Christian Education school year.  There will once again be no fee for Sunday School - but this year we are going to ask you to register your child(ren) so we can better prepare for class.  For the other nights, the fees will remain the same: $30 for Monday night, and $80 for Wednesday.  You can find the link in the
Christian Education tab on our website
www.christ-the-king.org or go directly to the registration:
There is also a document on our website titled "Online Registration Instructions" - this is a great step by step guide in case you have any problems.  Do yourself a favor and check this off your to-do list before Summer is in full swing!"

Feedback for Christ the King's Christian Education Program!

Thank you parents and volunteers for another successful year of Sunday School, Monday night Christian Education and Wednesday night Confirmation!  Thank you for all the support you have given these programs - and the children enrolled in them - throughout the year.
During the summer months, we like to evaluate the previous year, so we appreciate your feedback and sharing.  In turn, we strive to provide our youth and families with the best faith formation as possible.  Please share your anonymous comments through this brief, 3 question survey.  Be sure to list or share which program you are commenting on.
Thank You!
