Let your smile change the world,
But don't the world change your smile.
~AndLifeGrows

I was doing my weekly sermon prep, when I thought of an illustration I wanted to use.  It came from Shane Claiborne.  He was a featured speaker at the ELCA Youth Gathering about 4 years ago.  He captivated me then and he again captivated my now.  While I was looking for one specific story, I was quickly sucked in and 30 minutes flew by.  I not only found my example, but I also was just re-energized and excited about my faith like I have not been in a while.

Shane is a dynamic speaker and is great at telling stories.  He is also great at telling you what you need to hear, but don't want to hear.  He knows how to challenge without making you feel like you have just been beat over the head with a stick.  He can illuminate truths in a way that you agree with him and can readily see how it affects your life.

The image above goes to youtube so you can watch the talk that he gave to the youth.  As a warning, you may not like all that things that he has to say, but you can't deny that he makes great points and he really will get you thinking.

Happy watching,

Pastor Tim

You will have to come to worship on Sunday to hear about the example that I might use in my sermon on Sunday!
Readings for this Week

Here are this week's readings. Sermon and scripture retention and application on Sunday morning jumps dramatically for those who read and engage the scripture during the week prior. (Click on the readings to find them online or use your Bible.)

Questions for John 10:1-10

1.  We are in the season of Easter, the time after the resurrection of Jesus, but before he has returned to God.  Why would this scripture be selected to be read in worship at this time of year?
2.  Who is a thief in the night?
3.  What does it mean to have abundant life?  What do we have in abundance?  What do we need in abundance?  Are they the same?
