The Bible is filled with God's promises for those who follow Him. We SAY we believe in Jesus Christ, but do we know EXACTLY what we believe and why we believe it? Girls who have completed 6th grade through graduation , come join us for our next Destination weekend camp as we focus on what we believe the Bible says and why we believe it. You don't want to miss all the FUN!

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Promise Center

The Haven in Clyde has been under renovation since last August, and I have had the privilege of being a little like Joanna Gaines in this process. We started with “demo day” by moving out furniture and boxing up books and supplies. Then the cleaning and painting got underway, inside and out. Oh yes, and a new roof, which we hired done. God has been faithful to provide new items at drastic savings that coordinated with some of the old furnishings to give the building a whole new look. It has been fun, and it is almost finished.

We decided to create a new name and logo to go along with the new look and ministry focus. This week I started working on printed material to use to advertise and inform the community. The Promise Center will officially open in the middle of May.

We will have three areas of focus; areas where “we promise to care”.
At the Center we will provide care to the community. Central Texas Opportunity gives assistance in rental and utility expenses and their representative, Yvette, is using the Promise Center to meet with clients on Mondays from 1:30 to 3:30. The Food Bank will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 12. Outreach Care will consist of several programs. “Gift a Teen” is a program that blesses Middle and High School students with a $50 gift card at Christmas. “Adulting 101” is being planned for this fall along with the help of the High School counselors. It will be a five week course for Seniors to teach concepts such as finance, resume writing, healthy relationships, and manners. Things they don’t learn in school anymore! A few of the ladies at the Center will be mentors to a MOPS group starting at the Clyde First United Methodist Church this fall. Ministry Care will be comprised of book/Bible studies and Freedom Counseling and Life Coaching.

It is our desire to carry out the words stated in 3 rd John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray for you to prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” As we minister to the whole person, body, soul and spirit, we hope to find that Gods promises for an abundant life become real to many.

To all the ladies that planned, prayed and participated in the Women’s Retreat this past month, I want to send you a great big THANK YOU! It was a refreshing time for me and an encouragement to see how God worked in other’s hearts and souls. In the future, we hope the Center can help with the retreats by providing a follow up day of teaching and praying to minister to women who attended a women’s retreat and need help in certain areas that the Lord exposed during the retreat.

Please pray for us as we continue to listen to the Lord’s plan for the Promise Center!

Blessings,

Birdie

I love parakeets. One of my parakeets took a bath in my hand. One would take naps with me and when I studied my Bible; he would try to peck on my pen to play with me. All my parakeets were so fun. About a year ago, my favorite bird died. I was just heartbroken. After about a month I wanted to get another bird. At the store they had about 20 birds in one area but none touched my heart, so to speak. The sales lady told me they had another one around the corner so I followed. There in this huge area was one bird – all by himself. I asked why? She said, “None of the other birds like him.” My heart went out to him and I thought, “I’ll love him.” I bought him and brought him home.

I did everything possible to get him to interact with me on any level and he always ran from me or pecked toward me. After about 6 months he very cautiously got on my finger so he could eat some millet (bird food) I was holding. That was the limit for him. Just recently, after having him for over a year and losing all hope of any interaction with him, this happened...

I stuck my hand in his cage and stirred up his food and he ran from his hiding corner, jumped down two levels and climbed on my hand and then walked up my arm a little and then I just turned my hand palm up and he climbed into my hand and cuddled up in my palm. I was flabbergasted. I thought, “OK, let’s see what happens.” I pulled my arm out of the cage and sat down at my desk. He just cuddled and closed his eyes. I could even run the tip of my finger over his little head like petting a dog and he didn’t budge. He continued to do this for days on end. I would take a nap with him in my palm. I’d watch TV with him in my palm.

I would sit looking at him thinking, “I wonder if the rush of love and protectiveness I feel for this little bird that so totally trusts me and wants to be near me is anything like how God must feel when we rest in Him, trust Him, want to be with Him. It opened my spirit and heart to feel even a drop of the love He must feel toward us. Even that drop of love was so overwhelming. If we trust Him like that, we can climb into His hand and we are completely safe and loved and fed and protected by Him. What an experience. What insight to God’s love that was. What would have happened if I had given up on him?

Promise Helpers is a non-profit Christian ministry for women that seeks to help women experience the fullness of God’s purpose and promises for them. Our desire is to bring women to a place of personal wholeness so they can bring wholeness to their marriages, homes, families and communities. Promise Helpers is women ministering to women, reminding one another of the promises of God and encouraging one another to implement those promises into their daily lives. The foundation of Promise Helpers is prayer, for apart from Jesus Christ we can do nothing.
