Route 66
Thursday, April 12 @ 7:30pm
Hear the fascinating story of Route 66, the highway that played a pivotal role in the social changes of the early twentieth century, from Susan Croce Kelly, author of Route 66, the Highway & its People . In her book, Susan shares the reminiscences of people who witnessed these developments, including those who drove the highway, cooked the hamburgers, created the pottery, and pumped the gas.
 

Butterflies are Coming

A Master Naturalist and Master Entomologist, Melanie Schuchart, will talk about how to attract butterflies to your garden and their critical role to the food web and ecosystems.  Melanie declares, "As the Blackland Prairie is disappearing in Collin County, I want everyone to know that by planting native plants in their yard, they help provide food for many of our local butterflies."

The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Symphony Chorus is pleased to welcome Douglas Kwon, the 2016 Grand Prize Winner of the Young Texas Artist Competition, to perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Other performance pieces include Overture to Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, The Promise of Living by Aaron Copland, and Symphonic Metamorphosis by Paul Hindemith.
