Small Business: Too Big Too Ignore Roundtable
|
|
On Thursday, July 14, 2016, 13 local businesses gathered in the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce's boardroom for a Small Business: Too Big Too Ignore Roundtable discussion led by Gary Valcour, Chair of the Chamber's Government Policy Committee and Karl Baldauf, Vice President, policy & Government Relations at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
The Roundtable touched on issues that effect small businesses, such as the rising cost of hydro, available employees, concerns about regulatory burdens, and inefficient government.
The Ontario Chamber of Commerce will be compiling all answers from the participating Chambers' Roundtables and creating a report based on the finding for September 2016.

Introducing Kyle Benham - Oshawa's New Director of Economic Development

|
The Corporation of the City of Oshawa has welcomed Kyle Benham as its new Director of Economic Development Services, effective June 13, 2016.
"We are very excited to introduce Mr. Kyle Benham as the City's new Director of Economic Development Services," said Commissioner of Development Services, Paul Ralph. "He has over 20 years of municipal economic development experience and brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of business development and incubation, marketing, sector development and investment attraction."
Mr. Benham has led a number of economic development organizations during his career. This includes serving as the City of Toronto's Director of Business Development and Retention and as the Executive Director of the Burlington Economic Development Corporation. He has come to Oshawa from the Town of Milton where he was most recently the Program Coordinator for the Milton Education Village (MEV) Innovation Centre.
