Chandler Basha Library Open House
The Chandler Public Library invites the community to an open house at the Chandler Basha library, located on the campus of Basha High School at 5990 South Val Vista Drive on Monday, April 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

To better accommodate community needs, Chandler Basha Library's space was reconfigured to enable the community and students to interact with others, research and learn through print and digital resources or just sit and read in a warm, inviting environment. The young adult/teen collection, juvenile collections and the children's collections were also expanded to meet customer demands.

Patrons are invited to explore the newly created space, participate in activity stations, listen to live music, enter a drawing for free books, and enjoy refreshments.

The Chandler Basha library opened in 2002. It is a shared use facility with the Chandler Unified School District serving southeast Chandler in addition to supporting the community and needs of the high school population. For more information, visit our Event Calendar or call 480-782-2800.

Staff Picks
This month on cloudLibrary, we're featuring staff member Debbie's favorite books.

Debbie has worked for the Chandler Public Library for 15 and a half years. She enjoys reading mysteries and thrillers, although she reads many other genres as well.

Her advice for readers looking for a great book is to " ask your friends and family what they are reading." Debbie also recommends reading reviews and browsing our library collection for an intriguing title. If you need assistance looking for your next great read, you can also ask Debbie or any of our other staff members and they will be happy to help you!
Spring Reading Program Reminder

Even though kids may have gone back to school, our Spring Reading Program continues through April 15. So if you haven't signed your child up yet, you still have time. More information can be found on our website
Join our Book Lovers Group
Have you ever wanted to join a book group but didn't because you like to choose what you read? Then we have a book discussion group for you!

The Book Lovers Group is designed to allow participants to read what they want and still have a common thread with the rest of the group. Each month we'll choose a genre, such as Biographies, and then you'll read a biography of your choice, share your thoughts about the book with the rest of the group, and give it a 1 - 5 star rating. We think this approach will keep participants interested as well as introducing new genres to others.

If this sounds like your kid of book group, join us on the first Thursday of each month, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Downtown Library. For more information, go to our website or call 480-782-2800.
What Are Librarians Reading?

Looking for:
Country Report Resources?
Where can you get information for state and country reports? Maybe you're just interested in learning about new places. Try CultureGrams - a great place for facts about countries and states, culture and customs, government and economy, and more. Get infographics about average populations and high-quality images of flags. Learn about people's food and recreation. You can even get a citation for your bibliography or works cited page, and there's a collection just for grade school students, too.

To access CultureGrams from home, start at chandlerlibrary.org and hover your mouse over the Research & Learning tab. Then click A-Z list of Resources, and scroll down to choose CultureGrams. You'll need your library card and PIN if you're signing in from home.  Then you can choose World Edition for countries, States or Provinces (Canada) Edition, or the Kids Edition for grade school country reports.
