August 2017

It's hard to believe this newsletter finds us getting ready for back-to-school! We have had a busy and productive summer with Camp Lemonade, Dierker's Champs, our summer-school bike drive, our 3rd annual Devine Virtuosos Band Camp, our annual shoe drive, Hope Center activities and field trips, and our summer feeding program. As we head into this new school year, Cy-Hope will ramp up Ambassadors of Compassion to reach our middle and high school students with the mentoring they need. We will expand our Dierker's Champs program by adding some middle-school teams for the first time. We will also continue to help high-achieving high-school students take Advanced Placement, Dual Credit and Certification classes through our Providing Opportunities Program. Our Hope Centers will provide tutoring, life skills classes, mentoring, snacks and recreation in three communities. Our Mobile Hope Center will hit the road with STEM workshops. And, our Backpack Program will resume weekly food deliveries to over 1,250 students at 62 Cy-Fair ISD schools. We rely on our volunteers and donors to make these programs possible - so thank you for your continued support of Cy-Hope. Connect with us on Facebook for the latest and greatest info on how you can help us make life better for kids in Cy-Fair!

Giving Corner
Your response to last month's request for bikes and helmets  was overwhelming. Cy-Hope received donations for 46 bikes and 39 helmets - enough to fund the Summer School Incentive program for two summers! Thanks to you, Cy-Hope provided 18 bicycles for nine Cy-Fair ISD summer schools  to children K-2 with perfect attendance - that's a lot of happy riders! Click here to view our Facebook live video.

This month, Cy-Hope gears up for our fall Ambassadors of Compassion program.  AOC is a 22-week coach-led program taught in Cy-Fair ISD's Pace Plus or Teen Leadership class. AOC provides students with resiliency, hope, and the skills needed to navigate and succeed through life's inevitable challenges. Last school year, the program served two high schools and one middle school. This year, we plan to expand the program to six schools, equipping over 500 students with the skills necessary to overcome life's challenges.  Click here to donate $70 (put AOC in memo) to provide the curriculum, supplies, off-campus service project and end-of-year awards event for one student.
