Promoting health, dignity and quality of life throughout the journey of aging.

Sarasota | Charlotte | Lee | DeSoto | Collier
The Giving Challenge ended May 2 at noon, and we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to every individual or organization who made a donation to Friendship Centers during t his four-county fundraiser, presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County with giving strengthened by The Patterson Foundation.
We received a total of 433 gifts from generous donors during the 24-hour event, and raised a total of $75,212 from donations online and through generous matching gifts. Here are some of the programs your gifts will help us continue to provide to older adults in Southwest Florida:

Woody Receives Quality Dental and Medical Care

"I was homeless, and I eventually I went to the dental clinic. I guess you could call it divine intervention, because when I pointed out the lump under my arm, they sent me right over to their health clinic for evaluation. From there I was referred to a cancer treatment plan. Now I can have more time with my grandson. I'm sober and involved in my church. You folks have extended my lifespan and probably saved my life."

Margaret Gets Hot, Nutritious Meals and Friendship

"I'm 97 years old. I've been coming to the Friendship Centers for so many years, I've lost count! I no longer cook for myself, so I enjoy the hot, balanced meals. I look forward to talking with my friends. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I am so thankful to the Charlotte Friendship Centers for providing an enjoyable way to spend my afternoons."

Leon Receives Case Management and Home Delivered Meals to Help Him Remain at Home

"My wife died a few years ago, and now I'm on my own. We don't have any kids, so no real family. I don't have a car and I can't drive anyhow, since I have trouble even standing due to my medical condition. The folks at DeSoto Home Health put me in touch with Friendship Centers, and now I get help at home with personal care, housekeeping, supplies and home-delivered meals. I'd be living in squalor without you guys. If it wasn't for Friendship Centers, I don't know. Maybe I wouldn't be living in my home at all."

Dental Center Patient Happy and Healthy at 105
Here is our dental center patient, Hedwig, who is 105 and going strong. She and her husband built a home in Naples in 1958. She has been on her own since 1999, and her nephew brought her to our dental center to have some bridge work done. Her good health and lifestyle have contributed to her longevity. Her determination to stay self-sufficient is an inspiration!
League Club Awards $5,000 Grant for At-Risk Women
The League Club, Inc. chose the Senior Friendship Health Center as the recipient of a $5,000 grant. The funds will be used to start a "Friend in Need" Patient Fund for senior at-risk women who cannot afford the "next step" testing for a possible cancer diagnosis with a mammogram or biopsy. Since 1987, The League Club has granted over $4.2 million to 157 local non-profit agencies. We thank TLC for its generous donation to SFHC!
