August 2017
At Madison Heights, one of our favorite times of year is every September when we get to celebrate National Assisted Living Week with our residents and their families! This year's National Assisted Living week will be September 10 - 16 and the theme is Family is Forever.

The week will be packed with fun for Madison Heights residents from visits from animals to family events and favorite meals.  We hope that you will mark your calendar now to join us for a  fun and exciting week with your loved one!

**In order to incorporate your loved one's favorite family meal into Assisted Living Week festivities email Kelly your favorite family meal by August 17. The most popular family recipes will be served for lunch during Assisted Living Week!**

Life History
We love hearing our residents' stories and learning more about their past through memory sharing and pictures.  Many of our residents still take great pride in their past accomplishments and relationships.
We would like the opportunity to highlight these memories and make a recognizable piece to hang outside each resident's door.  We will provide a collage frame that will hold three 5x7 LANDSCAPE ORIENTED photos or cut outs.
Please see Kelly or Marcus when you are ready to fill a frame for your loved one.

Help Others Find Us!
We need your help!   Since our opening in 2014 what we hear the most from community members in Augusta is that they never knew we were even here! In order to spread the word via the internet we humbly ask that you search for "Madison Heights Evans GA" through Google and leave a positive review of our community. These reviews will help boost our placement to the top of the list and make us easier to find for others that are searching for a Memory Care Community for a friend or loved one. Please look for this pop up below and click on "Write Review" Thanks for your help as we look to spread the word!

To Keep in Mind...
  • If you notice an Associate going above and beyond their normal job duties please notify Christen at [email protected] so that that they can be recognized with a Madison Heights Champion award.
  • We would appreciate your help in making sure that all important documents and bills are being sent to the responsible party, and not Madison Heights.
  • We all work together to keep Madison Heights clean.  When you visit it would be appreciated it you would dispose of cigarette butts somewhere other than on the property grounds.

Associate of the Month

Congratulations to Jasmine, our Associate of the Month!

Jasmine was chosen as Associate of the Month because she is d ependable, kind, patient & loving.  Jasmine understands the adjustment period that new residents go through when first moving in & is always very patient with them.  She has a positive attitude and is great with caring for residents and always willing to learn new things.

Jasmine  says that what she loves most about working at Madison Heights is seeing smiles on her residents and family members' faces.
Spotlight Volunteers
This month's Spotlight Volunteer goes to a group of unnamed people! There is a current family-friendly craze in the CSRA where "fairy doors" are located in a variety of places. Children (and adults) visit these doors and trade a rock or trinket for a rock of trinket.

We have created our own fairy door and are using it to to honor residents who have passed away by making them honorary fairies or gnomes each week and giving away something that was near and dear to them (school supplies for a teacher, small animals for an animal lover, beach toys for a beach lover, etc.).    Along with our own residents who have been painting rocks for children w e have loved having volunteers paint special rocks for us and seeing the joy that is shared through this current fun trend that gets families outside and spending time together!
Why We Work in Senior Housing...
"
I am so fortunate to not only be able to help families in their challenging time of need, but to also get to know them, their loved one, and hear amazing stories about each of them and their lives. Each family is different, each resident is different, as is each dementia. Every story is different, but the needs are the same; To have a family member in an environment where they will be cared for, they will be safe, and they can thrive through socialization and activities. There are not many places where you can go to work and know you have helped multiple people, while gaining new friends. I am thankful for what I do every day because the people I meet make me and my heart smile!"
- Laura Brown

Thank you for entrusting Madison Heights with your loved one as we help you write life's next chapter.
