Extra Alarm Fire Successfully Subdued at Adobo Grill and The Second City
As you're all probably aware by now, Old Town experienced an extra-alarm fire back on Wednesday, August 26th. The fire originated in the kitchens at Adobo Grill, traveled up a duct and intensified as it reached the upper floor and roofline. All employees, customers and visitors to the affected structures were safely evacuated.

The Chicago Fire Department attacked the blaze for a little over three hours, with dark plumes of heavy smoke drifting southwesterly throughout the incident. With the immediately adjacent streets closed, crowds of 100+ watched.

Adobo Grill is closed until further notice as it assesses the damage and determines its next actions. If you have existing reservations or a private party, please call 312.266.7999 to reschedule.

For the world-renown The Second City, fire damage to its stages and workshop areas was limited, but water damage will take a few weeks to clear up. Its theaters are expected to remain closed until September 20th but, in a testament to Chicago's amazing comedy/theater community, others have stepped up to host The Second City's improv shows, stand-up and training classes. More information is available at The Second City's website .

Thank you to all the businesses and residents who expressed their concerns for our businesses. And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! to the men and women of Chicago's Fire Department for handling this dangerous situation.

Buzz Bait Taqueria

Buzz Bait
is the brainchild of Chicago restaurateurs Giulia Sindler (Kamehachi) and Marc Malnati (Lou Malnati's) as an answer to the question "Where can I get the perfect fish taco?"

The co-owners have created a menu unique to Chicago's fish taco scene, tapping into the West Coast tastes that first sparked their interest in the concept.

The menu currently includes seven delectable tacos, specialty bowls, light appetizers/sides and refreshing cocktails.

We are incredibly excited to welcome this brand new member business to Old Town.

Buzz Bait opens daily (closed Tues.) at 4:00pm. For more information, call 312.664.2899.
