Greetings from New Horizon Foods!  

Just what has New Horizon Foods been up to??  

January 28th we held our quarterly Manager Meeting and had over 75% of our managers in attendance!  Not bad for a January meeting!  Thanks goodness the mid-west winter season has been mild on us!  In this article you will find some exciting news of our recent recipients of awards, details from the recent manager meeting along with some recipes from our fantastic Chefs! 

Award Recipients
As you all know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to have a successful survey and/or inspection!  The following Managers received awards at the NHF Quarterly Manager Meeting! 
Ray W from a MA Senior Facility for a 100% county inspection,
Amanda R from a MN Senior Facility for a Deficiency Free Survey, 
Tammy B from a MN Senior Facility for a Deficiency Free Survey,
And again Tammy B for being the Manager of the Quarter!

Chunky Tomato Basil Soup By Chris N.

8 c. canned diced tomatoes

1 c. diced celery          1 c. diced onion

1 tsp. black pepper     1 tsp. oregano

1 tsp. thyme               4 oz. chopped fresh basil

� c. sugar                  2 Tbsp. salt

� # melted butter     � c. red wine

1 c. heavy whipping cream

1 clove garlic (diced)


Melt butter in sauce pan, add onions and celery. Cook until onions become translucent then add fresh garlic. Stir in gently (don't burn)

Add wine and let it reduce for 5 minutes

Add canned tomatoes and all the dry herbs, spices, sugar, pepper, and salt.

Let simmer on low-medium heat for 30 minutes stirring every 5 minutes.

Blend in heavy cream until preferred consistency. Add chopped fresh basil.
