The Generation All Action Plan, Strong Neighborhood High Schools for a Stronger Chicago, calls for Chicagoans to unite around Practice, Policy, and Public Engagement solutions to revitalize neighborhood public high schools and expand equity in our public education system. Our steering committee has begun to work on the solutions in our Action Plan. Now we need your help to change the narrative around public education and expand high quality learning opportunities for young people in and outside of the classroom, with the wider support of the community. This summer, we invite you to join a work group to turn our recommendations into reality!

Generation All steering committee members and students Jessica and Lin and our student speaker Ray at the Action Plan Launch Party.

Practice Work Group

This group will prioritize working on two Practice recommendations from the Plan:

1c - Make neighborhood high schools centers of their communities

1d - Offer comprehensive college and career advising for students at all neighborhood public high schools

Policy Work Group

The group will prioritize working on all three Policy recommendations from the Plan in this order:

2a - Put a hold on the opening and closing of public high schools until there is an open, inclusive, citywide planning process that considers neighborhood needs

2c - Adopt a more equitable funding formula for public schools in Chicago that better accounts for differences in student and neighborhood needs and resources

2b - Make school evaluation less punitive and more focused on problem-solving and growth

Public Engagement Work Group

This group will prioritize working on 3c -  D esign innovative and practical ways for community groups, businesses and residents to partner with and support neighborhood public high schools .

This group needs assistance with:
  • Sharing Generation All with new audiences (LSCs, Aldermen, faith leaders, cultural groups, etc.)
  • Helping schools promote themselves and sharing positive news about neighborhood high schools
  • Identifying and supporting the most isolated schools with community partnerships
If you are interested in joining one of these work groups, please sign up  here. Generation All will be overseeing these work groups and helping to coordinate any common projects that emerge among the groups and with other organizations.
