Check out this year's six honorees to be celebrated at the Downtown NOLA Awards luncheon on Friday, September 22 at the Roosevelt New Orleans, located in Downtown NOLA at 130 Roosevelt Way. ARTS MARKET DOWNTOWN PRESENTED BY THE DDD - WHITE LINEN NIGHT

 

On White Linen Night, check out the next Arts Market Downtown presented by the DDD. The Market is produced by Arts Council New Orleans, featuring fine art and crafts, food truck favorites, and local musicians from 4-9pm during select First Saturday Art Walks at the intersection of Julia and Carondolet Streets in Downtown NOLA. MOBILITY SURVEY FOR DOWNTOWN NOLA
 
 

Now through August 1, Manning Architects is working on behalf of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to conduct a Mobility Survey for the Downtown NOLA area. This survey asks the questions: What are the biggest issues affecting transportation in the Downtown NOLA area? How would you improve them? Now through 2020, what should be our top transportation goals?

BE A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN HOMETOWN AND COOLINARY NEW ORLEANS RESTAURANT MONTH   



Beginning August 1, The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau invites Louisiana residents to rediscover New Orleans by taking advantage of the city's cultural attractions and dining options through Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown and COOLinary New Orleans Restaurant Month, the NOCVB's annual summer campaigns. The two campaigns encourage locals to experience their hometown through the eyes of visitors while supporting the businesses that have made New Orleans one of the most culturally authentic destinations in the world.

A SEAWORTHY SHRIMP BOIL     

 

Saturday, The Ace Hotel's seafood restaurant hosts local chefs in a boil competition starting at 2pm Chefs from Josephine Estelle, Grand Isle, and (of course) Seaworthy will throw down for who can produce the most tempting boil. Tastings, beer, and live DJs all add to the fun.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: CANAL ST.
 
 

Expect travel and parking lane closures on Canal St. from Dorsiere to Bourbon St. beginning on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 8am until sunset as crews place permanent concrete pavement in the 100 block of Bourbon Street.

GRAFFITI GRANT
 
    

To combat graffiti on private property, the DDD offers private property owners a fifty percent (50%) reimbursement up to a maximum of $2,500 (up from $1,000) per structure to offset the expense of graffiti removal from their property including repainting cost. To participate in the DDD's Graffiti Removal Program, please complete the Private Property Graffiti Removal Agreement.
 
The DDD Clean Team has been successful in swiftly removing graffiti from public property and encourages private property owners to do the same. Research shows that removal within 48 hours is effective in discouraging repeat vandalism.

Register Your Security Camera with NOPD to Help Fight Crime

 

If you own a security camera in New Orleans, you can now register it with NOPD to help detectives solve crimes in your neighborhood and provide strong evidence to put offenders away. 

 

The New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation, in partnership with the NOPD, launched a new online service called Safecam NOLA.  The program allows residents and business owners to register their security cameras with New Orleans Police. The SafecamNOLA project is an expansion of "Safecam8," which was an on-line program that Downtown residents and business owners in the Eighth Police District have been using for years to register their cameras with Eighth District police.  The 1,302 8th District cameras that are in that system are now included in the citywide SafecamNOLA system.
