After I stopped practicing law, I trained and worked with world-renowned motivational speaker Les Brown and found I had a passion not only for speaking, but for coaching speakers. I found something I was truly passionate about and then I ignored it. I took my focus away from my passion and focused on my bank account.
I ended up doing HR training and consulting. Lots of great experience and income but I wasn't following my passion. Why? On the surface it was because my passion was not putting money in my bank account. However, through a series of "character building" events, I realized my "backstory," the fear of what following my passion would cost me, was the real reason I wasn't doing what I loved. Can you relate?
Now that I have spent some time addressing and dismantling my backstory, I am focusing all my time and energy to doing the things I love most: speaking and coaching speakers and helping others address and dismantle their own backstories.
