DOWNTOWN NIGHT WORK
Parking Sign Replacement Project
The City of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department would like to notify Downtown residents and businesses of night work taking place Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 18, 2012 in the Downtown core and surrounding areas; with the exception of Higuera Street, from Chorro to Garden Streets. The hours of work are from 2 AM to 10 AM.
Work involves the removal of existing parking signs and will performed by contractor, Traffic Development Services (TDS), Inc. as part of the Parking Sign Replacement Project taking place throughout the city. These improvements in the Downtown area have been scheduled to be performed at night to minimize disruptions during the day and be completed quickly. TDS has notified Downtown residents and business owners in the affected area of the work.

"MAIN STAGE" Entertainment at Thursday Night Promotions
There's a lot taking place at Thursday Night Promotions Farmers' Market during the month of May! Main Stage entertainment on May 10th will kick off the month with local band "Burning James and the Funky Flames" performing live on the Main Stage, 7-8:30pm, corner of Nipomo and Higuera streets. The band will be performing on our "big" concert stage supported by professional sound and lighting.
This event draws a large crowd so plan to keep your business open to take advantage of this special event. In support of greening Farmers' Market, sound will be powered by a mobile unit supplying clean solar generated electricity provided by Main Stage sponsor, Pacific Energy Company.
In addition to Main Stage entertainment, the Downtown Association offers weekly entertainment for everyone to enjoy on Nipomo, Broad, Garden, Chorro, Morro and Osos streets. MOTHERS DAY FLOWER GIVE-AWAY The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association will be hosting its annual Mothers' Day Flower Giveaway on Thursday, May 10th at Thursday Night Promotions Farmers' Market in Downtown SLO, starting at 6 PM. Wells Fargo and Eufloria Flowers are the sponsors of this event. Wells Fargo, Downtown Association staff and Youth from the Bakari Program will had out 750 flowers to mothers at Farmers' Market on the corner of Chorro and Higuera streets. DAWN TO DUSK ADVENTURE RACE
All Out Events is hosting a 12-hour multisport Dawn to Dusk adventure race on May 12th, with the finish line being in Mission Plaza. Participants will complete the nearly 50 mile trek, with an anticipated arrival time between 4:00 and 9:00 pm. For more information, visit their website at All Out Adventures!
SLO TWEED RIDE
A tweed ride is a leisurely bike ride through Downtown, where cyclists are expected to dress in traditional early 20th century attire (tweed, wool, knickers, hats, moustaches, oxfords, etc) and with the hope to hear some accents in there as well.
Any bicycle is acceptable for the ride, but classic vintage bicycles are highly encouraged. All efforts to make the ride into a time warp are appreciated. leave a comment if you have a great idea for the ride. See you Sunday May 13th at 1:00pm at Triangle Park, located near the Amtrak Station, for the festivities!
