What Does "Namaste" Really Mean?
The word "Namaste" - I honor the Divinity in you - helps you to experience a state of great peace. Often said with hands folded in front of you, it's a beautiful salutation to all the beings in your life.
The gesture Namaste is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. "I bow to you." When you bring your hands together in front of your heart, you increase the flow of divine love.
As defined by Mahatma Gandhi: In India when people meet and part they often say, Namaste' which means: "I honor the place within you where the entire Universe resides; I honor the place within you of love, of light, of truth, of peace - and that same place in me. There is only one of us."
