Nourish News
July  2017
Dear Kind Supporters,

Our Annual Gala "A Night in Vegas" was the most successful fundraiser in our six year history! Oh what a night! The momentum we gain keeps on building as we recover and donate more food than ever, pushing closer and closer to 200 Food Donor Partners

For the third year in a row, we will be hosting a booth at the Montgomery County Agriculture Fair, serving Fair fare like burgers, fries, pulled pork, and more! Again, we were lucky enough to land a spot in the "Chilly Mall," one of the only air-conditioned areas there! Please stop by from August 11th to the 19th and chill with us to support the cause!

Nourish Now and So What Else Can We Do To Help (SWE) have collaborated since our inception in 2011. Through this collaboration we call Feed The Mind, thousands of area youth continue to receive nutritious meals and snacks during after-school activities, classes and summer camps. On September 11, 2017, we will be hosting the 1st Annual Feed the Mind Charity Golf Tournament at Norbeck Country Club in Rockville. I hope you can join us on this national day of remembrance and service in giving back to our nation's future generations.

Enjoy the July 2017 edition of Nourish News in this beautiful summer weather!

Sincerely,
Brett Meyers
Founder & Executive Director
What's up this Summer?
Food With Dignity
During the summer, children are home from school, and family need increases. Caterers host more events, farms are in full production, and our phones are ringing off the hook. Through all of this busyness, we are constantly striving to better serve our community.

Food With Dignity is a new philosophy through which we identify the immediate need of our clients, provide them with necessary food assistance, and guide them toward resources that they can use to alleviate their own symptoms of poverty. After regularly scheduled follow-ups, we witness these clients' progress firsthand as they "graduate" from the Food With Dignity Program to a greater status of food security.

This month, we will be debuting a comprehensive resource directory crafted to provide our clients with categorized listings of local government services and nonprofit programs that offer job training, housing, transportation, health care, day care, education, furniture, clothing and other forms of assistance.

Check out this WHAG TV news story from earlier in the year for a look inside the Nourish Now pantry, and to hear more on the Food With Dignity Program from Assistant Director, David Joffe, and Executive Director, Brett Meyers.
Food Donor Spotlight
Over the July 4th holiday weekend, our on-call system was deployed on  #FoodRescueMission at the  PGA Tour's Quicken Loans National at TPC Potomac. Once the afternoon storm passed quickly over Avenel Farm, we recovered over 1,500 pounds of produce and more for those in need!

Thanks to all who organized, attended and competed in this huge event!

Recent additions to our growing list of Food Donor Partners includes:  Aldi (Silver Spring),  Harris Teeter (Bethesda),  Mid Atlantic Gleaning Network Moti's Market, and  Target (Wheaton).
