News and Events in Tennessee
Greetings!

April is expected to be the final month that the Tennessee General Assembly is in session. House and Senate Committees are begining to end their committee work as the end of the session approaches.

These last few weeks of the session are important ones. There are a number of bills that TEP continues to monitor that could affect the lives of LGBT people and their families in Tennessee. We're doing our best to lobby against negative legislation and support positive legislation.

We continue our appeal to you to make a deeper commitment to full equality for LGBT people in Tennessee by becoming a sustaining donor.

If you've already become a sustaining donor, thank you!

If you've not become a sustaining donor, we challenge you to commit to promoting equality at home in Tennessee. With a monthly pledge of $5, $10, $15, $20 or $25, you can ensure a strong voice for LGBT people and their familes in State government.

In the meantime, there's much to look forward to in the life TEP in the coming weeks.

Stand Up for Local Non-Discrimination Ordinances

At this point, we believe Sen. Jim Kyle's bill (SB2762) will be heard by the State and Local Government Committee in Room 12 at Legislative Plaza on Tuesday at 10:30 am.

This bill will restore Metro Nashville's Contract Accountability Non-Discrimination Ordinance and return authority in procurement to all cities and counties around the state.

If you live in the Nashville area or will be visiting, we encourage you to attend the hearing in support of the bill. Let us know you are coming at this link.

We hope you can join us at any of the above events. Stay tuned for updates and action alerts from Tennessee Equality Project as we look forward to the end of this legislative session.

Thanks for all you do to advance equality.
