President's Message - December 2015
The season of giving is here and 2015 is fast approaching to an end.  The past month has been a busy time for Council as well as for all PTA units.  We did have our General Meeting on November 16, however, we did not make quorum so no official business was done.  As I recognize that everyone that were able to attend are volunteers such as myself, I did not want anyone to walk away without getting something out of it.  We had a

PTA Representation Needed at San Diego Paris Climate Talks Solidarity March and Rally.  Help get the word out to your students and families. The San Diego chapter of 350.org is organizing a local March to coincide with this year's Paris Climate Talks.  The enthusiasm and participation around the world this past week has been phenomenal, let's keep the momentum going and show the world that San Diego is a leader in the fight for responsible climate action.  Students, you are the future and your voices are needed the most.  Numbers   Read more.....

California Ranks 42 in K-12 Education Funding
According to the California Budget and Policy Center (Budget Center), California ranks 42nd in the nation when it comes to per-pupil expenditures.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, the Budget Center released a fact sheet outlining California's funding for K-12 schools relative to other states in the nation. The fact sheet, available here, uses 2014-15 education spending data from all fifty 
The Convention is Coming!
It is never too early to start planning for the California State PTA Annual Convention.   This year the State convention is in our own back yard.  That is right. The convention is in San Diego!   If you attend the convention as an elected delegate, you vote, debate and help steer  the business of the PTA.  All attendees of the PTA state convention you get to participate in great workshops, listen to inspiring speakers and panel discussions, and network with fellow PTA crazies from across the state.
