The Lifesaving Church is a powerful book about suicide prevention that every church leader needs to read.”
—Sarah Griffith Lund, author of Blessed are the Crazy
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
With suicide rates climbing — affecting all ages and genders — chances are your church will be, or has already been, affected by the tragedy of suicide. We can no longer afford to remain silent around the topics of suicide, depression, and mental illness.

On this first day of Mental Health Awareness Month, Chalice Press invites you to break the silence and join others in becoming lifesaving communities. In The Lifesaving Church: Faith Communities and Suicide Prevention , releasing today, pastor and suicide survivor Rachael Keefe shatters the stigma of suicide to share her own personal story of lifelong depression, eating disorders, and suicidality and help equip congregations to better recognize and respond to those suffering silently in the pew.

Part memoir, part theological reflection, and part action guide, each chapter concludes with a "What Your Congregation Can Do Now" section to get you started building a community of abundant life for all.
