Wheatlands Homeowners,

Landscaping Update 
 
We have gotten the approval to start many new projects to help the appearance of the Wheatlands Community. Look for some to be completed before the end of the year and others to begin in early spring. 

List of ongoing things taken on this month:
  • Trash removal
  • Trash can maintenance
  • Irrigation repair completed at Wheatlands and Harvest-PVR replacement
  • Winter watering of tress
  • Snow removal services performed on the clubhouse and school route four times
  • Measurement of soil moisture and filling of gator bags on new trees as needed

 If you are interested in doing any advertising to the neighborhood, we can offer the ability to advertise in this newsletter. The rates are below:

$40 for 1/8 page per newsletter

Kids Night Out at The Wheatlands Clubhouse
Kids will have game s and crafts with dinner provided, and will get to watch a movie in our movie theater. Parents can relax with the night off. $15 for 1st child $10 for additional children. 6:00 pm-10:00 pm. Please register by Wednesday prior to event. Register on the YMCA website. Call 720-870-2221 with any questions.

Adult Sip and Paint Party with
The Paint Cellar
When: Friday, April 28th
7:00 pm-9:00 pm
What: Adult Sip and Paint Party w/The Paint Cellar

Come and enjoy a ladies night out or a date night and be guided step by step into creating one of two paintings provided by The Paint Cellar. You must sign up for this event in advance! Cost is $35/adult and includes beer/wine, light snacks, all painting supplies and instruction from one of the Paint Cellars qualified instructors. This event will be capped off at 48 participants so sign up now! Payment can be made the night of the event. Must be 21+

YMCA Drop N Shop at Southlands Mall
In need of a little retail therapy? South-land Shopping Center and the Aurora YMCA is here to help you! Drop the kids off at the YMCA Drop 'n Shop Program. Kids will participate in themed activities and crafts as you indulge yourself with everything Southlands has to offer! Please provide a small snack for your child.

Cost: $7/child
Ages: Children Must be potty trained - 10 years old

YMCA Programs

In addition to family activities at Southshore, the YMCA runs programs that benefit the entire Aurora Community.

Y Summer Day Camp at Wheatlands
Don't know what to do with your kids over the summer? Sign them up for the YMCA Summer Day Camp at the Wheatlands Clubhouse. Offered Monday-Friday 7 am-6 pm with 3 field trips each week. For more information Click Here.
 
Y Swimming Lessons
Registration for swim lessons at the Wheatlands Pool put on by the YMCA for this summer is now open please  click here  for more information.

Y Sports
For our outdoor sports  (soccer, baseball, flag football, lacrosse) the registration will open on February 6th and go through March 10th.  The season will run April 3rd - May 20th.

Y Leaders
A new program for the Aurora Family YMCA. Youth 11-18 can join at no cost to plan and take part in Saturday service opportunities. Please attend our Wednesday meetings or contact Rachel Sloan for more information. [email protected]
 
Youth in Government
Join youth from throughout the state at our premier model government program. High school aged students will write and debate bills, argue state supreme court cases or take part in our press and lobbyist programs. The only group with access to the state Capitol building in this capacity.   Click here to find out more!

Reach & Rise Mentoring
What is Reach and Rise?
  • Reach and Rise is a free group mentoring program of the YMCA, established to provide young people in our community with positive and peer relationships.
  • 2 adult mentors are matched with a group of 6 youth
  • The group will meet once a week for 2 hours.
  • The program cycle runs for 8 weeks during the summer and 16 weeks during the fall and spring.
  • Mentors are meant to serve as role models, friends, and confidants. They're another source of support for your child. They are not meant to take the role of a parent, babysitter, or financier.

Teen Craft Night at The Teen Center in Southlands Mall
Participate in our awesome specialty crafts geared toward teens! Enjoy a fun evening with friends! $12/class or $40 for all 4 weeks. Ages 7-14. Youth can also indulge in ping-pong, challenge friends in guitar hero or rock band, foosball, or other board games.  Register here.

Southlands Shopping Center Events



Southlands Cub Club is for children ages 3 to 10. Members get special discounts at Southlands retailers and YMCA programs, monthly events, a club newsletter and during your child's birth month, they receive a special birthday surprise. Joining is easy. Click here to enroll, then come to the Southlands Management Office during business hours to pick up your child's membership card and welcome goodie bag. Cub Club registration will also be available at every Sounds of Southlands concert and Movies on Main Street this summer.

* Come learn about snakes at this months Cub Club Event. Natures' Educators will be bringing 3 different snakes and will talk about anatomy, diet, habitats, behaviors, and adaptations of snakes.*

CPR & First Aid Certification Training

Safe Sitter Classes
Course covers what you should and shouldn't do as well as safety concerns for new Babysitters. Safe sitter classes are offered Saturdays in the fall at our Southlands Teen Center location.

Want to become a certified Lifeguard? Look no further than the YMCA.

Clubhouse Rental Paperwork
The Clubhouse is available for residents of Wheatland's to rent. The cost is $40 for the first two hours (and a two hour minimum is required), and $20 per hour after that. You can access the paperwork here: Clubhouse Rental Paperwork.

Management/Pool/Clubhouse:

The YMCA manages the pool, clubhouse, park reservations for the community and is in charge of all communication and oversight of the property. If you have any questions in regards to these items, please contact them at 720-870-9297 or 720-870-8221 . Community Preservation Specialists, Inc handles all covenant enforcement issues. If you are unsure of who can help you, please contact management (YMCA) and we will get you to the correct individuals.
