Blog: When Third Party Financing Falls Through

For dealers who help customers secure financing through a third party, there is always a risk that no bank, credit union, or finance company will be willing to "buy" the deal. Despite this risk, many dealers sign a deal with the customer, allow the customer to leave with the vehicle, and hope that the deal goes through. What can the dealer do if no one buys the deal, or if the third party kicks the deal back for some reason? In our latest blog post we examine what a dealer's options are.

Last month TIADA welcomed over 250 dealers to San Antonio for the 2017 Annual Conference & Expo. Dealers who attended were emailed survey about the conference yesterday. Another TIADA member is making a positive impact in their community! Third Coast Auto Group of Austin recently partnered with the local CBS and Telemundo affiliate to provide backpacks full of school supplies. Students and their families lined up at Austin's Park N Pizza to pick up supplies to help them be prepared for the upcoming school year. Check out these photos of the giveaway.

Feds Expand Probe into Possible Carbon Monoxide Leaks in Ford SUVs

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday that it's expanding its investigation into reports of carbon monoxide leaks in some Ford SUVs. The agency said it is now looking into 791 complaints of Ford Explorers model years 2011-2017. That's up from the initial 154 complaints regulators began investigating a year ago in model years 2011-2015. A report from the NHTSA says an additional 2,051 complaints were lodged with the manufacturer. There have been 41 reported injuries, the NHTSA said.

Ethics Panel Issues Caution to Texas Congressman over Auto Dealership Measure

Texas Republican Roger Williams did not violate congressional conflict-of-interest rules in 2015 when he pushed changes to legislation that could have benefited his auto dealership, the House Ethics Committee ruled Tuesday. The panel cautioned, however, that "this is an area where mistakes can be made," and took note of Williams' own floor speech arguing that businesses such has his could be hurt without the changes he wanted.

Bill Would Require Used Cars with Recalled Parts Be Repaired

U.S. Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Edward Markey are pushing legislation that would require used cars that contain recalled, unsafe parts to be repaired before being sold or leased. Blumenthal said there are more than 64 million cars and trucks on the road with unrepaired safety recalls.

US Consumers Complain Most about Cars

Auto-related problems, including misrepresentation in advertising and faulty repairs, have topped a list of issues US consumers complained most about in 2016. That is according to a survey of 39 state and local consumer protection agencies in 23 states, who told the Consumer Federation of America (CFA) and North American Consumer Protection Investigators (NACPI) about the most common complaints they received last year.
