Hear What Fremont Township Is Doing At The Township Complex
Last summer, Fremont Township was awarded $6000 grant from ComEd Green Region Openlands to convert 1.25 acres at our administrative and highway complex to native prairie. The work began in November with the seeding and will continue this spring with the planting of native shrubs and trees.

We are excited that the Fremont Middle School's 6th grade Personalized Learning Program has joined in the project by learning about the importance of native plants and designing informational signs for visitors to learn more about our conservation campus. If you'd like to learn more about this project or about the Fremont Township Community Garden, please join a free informational meeting of the Wild Ones organization on Tuesday, February 6th at 7 pm at the Fremont Library.
More Scams
NETFLIX SCAM: Police say if you get an email that appears to be from Netflix urging you to update your credit card information, don't do it. The scam, which was first noticed in early  November , manifests itself as "an email from a fake account has been circulating to Netflix customers alerting them of the deactivation of their account because the company could not validate billing information. The fraudulent email asks people to click a link to enter their personal information. More Information from Netflix
BEWARE OF UTILITY SCAM ComEd  is warning customers to be on alert for scam artists claiming to be a ComEd representative seeking payment. The company has seen a significant increase in reports from small businesses and residential customers who were victimized by these types of scam incidents.
Customers can avoid being scammed by taking a few precautions:
• Never provide social security or personal information to anyone initiating contact with you claiming to be a ComEd representative or requesting you to send money to another person or entity other than ComEd.
• Ask to see a company photo ID before allowing any utility worker into your home or business.
• When in doubt, check it out. Be skeptical of individuals wearing clothing with old or defaced company logos. If you have any doubts, ask to see a company photo ID and if you are still not sure, call our customer service to verify.
• Never make payment for services to anyone coming to the door or someone who is trying to pressure you on the phone.
If you’ve been victimized by fraud, the Consumer Protection Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s office may be able to help. Visit

Has Substance Abuse Taken Over Your Life?
“A Way Out” is a Lake County, Illinois Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion pilot program, designed to fast-track users to substance abuse programs and services. This program is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at participating police departments across Lake County and ensures no criminal charges will be sought for those that may be in possession of narcotics or paraphernalia, as long as assistance is sought out by the prospective program participant.

“A Way Out” is a program developed by the Lake County Opioid Initiative to create additional treatment access points, reduce crime, reduce substance-related harms, re-frame the role law enforcement plays in community safety, and unite the community. For too long, substance use has been stigmatized and dealt with as a criminal issue. Substance use is a public health problem that needs to be addressed as such. Lake County Opioid Initiative is committed to developing innovative ways to create positive change in our community as it regards substance use and mental health.
