Save the Dates! Mini Golf: A FUN-draiser
For two days in September, the Beverly Public Library will be transformed into an 18-hole miniature golf course! All proceeds will benefit our Teen Renovation Project

Adult Par-Tee (18+): Saturday, September 23 from 7 - 9 PM
Putt your way through the library after hours while enjoying music, refreshments and a cash bar (beer and wine). $30 per person. Register here

Fore! Families: Sunday, September 24 from 10 AM - 1 PM
A "hole" lot of fun for your mini-family members and folks of all ages! $5 per person. Register here

Labor Day Weekend 
Library Closed Labor Day
The main library and the Farms branch will be closed for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 4. The main library will also be closed on Saturday, September 2. The main library is closed on Sundays, and the Farms branch is closed on Saturdays, until October 2017. The Farms branch is always closed on Sundays. 
"Summer Sounds" Outdoor Concerts
Wednesdays in August from 6 - 7 PM
Winter Street Plaza, Main Library
Summer Sounds, our free outdoor summer concert series featuring local musicians, runs each Wednesday through August 23. Enjoy the mellow summer evenings and great music solo, or with friends or family. In case of rain, concerts take place in the Sohier Room. See the August schedule  here
Find Your Neighborhood in "Our Stomping Ground"
“Our Stomping Ground,” a wood mural by Beverly resident Brian Murphy, is currently on display at the main library. The piece was previously on display on Cabot Street as part of the Beverly Main Streets Red Fence Art Gallery, and is a representation of all of Beverly’s unique neighborhoods. Come see if you can find your stomping ground in this amazing piece! Read more here.

"Build a Better World" Summer Reading Program for Teens
Summer reading is underway. Registration closes Monday, July 31. Registered teens must redeem their game cards no later than 4 PM on Wednesday, August 9. This is the deadline for collecting prizes, raffle tickets, and earning tickets to the Topsfield Fair

Still have some reading to do? See  Briscoe Middle School’s and Beverly High School’s reading lists here. Print copies are also available at the Reference Desk. Can't find the book you need? Please ask our Reference staff for help: 978-921-6062.

Board Games, Raffle & Prize Day:  Wednesday, August 9 from 2:30 — 4 PM

Drop in or stay the whole time. Play board games and eat snacks! Watch the live drawing for the grand prizes and collect any outstanding prizes. Teen summer reading officially ends at 4 PM. TEEN SUMMER READING DEADLINE! 


Anime Club: Tuesday, August 15 from 3:30 — 5:30 PM

Eat snacks and have fun with other fans! Note: this event is not eligible for prizes.

A Little Night Music and Rhyme: Thursdays at 6:30, August 3 - August 31
Join us for musical rhythmic fun! For families and kids under 5 (or so). Signup not required. 

The Music Box’s World of Stories by Tony Toledo: Friday, August 4 at 10 AM
Enchanted tales of a girl with a magical music box and a great giant named Kippenose the Giant! Learn to play the Green Magic game. Come celebrate a successful summer of reading!

Monday Mornings Fall Series
The Monday Mornings Lecture Series fall season begins Monday, September 18. Programs run weekly from 9:30 - 10:30 AM until mid-December (except on federal holidays and during our Fall Book Sale). Light refreshments are available starting at 9 AM. Programs are designed for senior adults, but all adults are welcome. The series is free - signup not required. Keep a lookout for the fall schedule on our Monday Mornings web page. Gyotaku Prints by Peter Concannon
August 2 - 29
Sohier Room, Main Library
Our August exhibit features Gyotaku (Japanese 魚拓, from gyo “fish” + taku “rubbing”) prints by Beverly resident Peter Concannon. The artist is a launch operator at a local yacht club and a recreational lobsterman. He uses specimens he receives from yacht club members to create respectful portrayals of magnificent sea creatures. Mr. Concannon's work has won awards in regional juried shows, and has been featured in Artscope Magazine. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular library hours, when library programs or community meetings are not in progress.

"Build a Better World" Summer Programs for Children: 

Animals Around the World: Wednesday, August 2 at 11 AM (ages 5 - 11). Animal experts from Creature Teachers will introduce us to several live animals from all over the world. We’ll learn about habitats and why it’s important to care for animals and nature.

Twilight Tales: Thursdays, August 3, 10 at 6:30 PM. Story times for the whole family.Bring a blanket and a snack - PJs optional!

Summer Concert with Dara: Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 PM. Lively music and movement for ages 18 months - 5 years. 

"By the Seashore": Mondays, August 7, 14 at 11 AM *Registration required* For ages 3 1/2 - 5 years. Learn about critters who live along our shore through games, crafts and food.  

Solar Scientists: Wednesday, August 16 at 11 AM. *Registration required* For ages 6 - 11. Get ready for the solar eclipse with crafts and super solar activities!

August Art: Painter & Photographer Exhibit
August 2 – 28
Watercolors by former concert artist Phyllis Kaplan, and travel photography (United States, the Middle East and South America) by Bruce White, in a collaborative show. “Artists’ Reception” on Thursday, August 3 from 6 - 8 PM. The exhibit and reception are free and open to all.
