Where Does Your Money Go?
Well, meet the Iggys.
"Iggy" is short for Italian Greyhounds.
These small, delicate and intelligent dogs are in high demand by those who shop online for their pets, or go to pet stores to pick out their companion animals.  Breeders know this, and see dollar signs, not dogs.  Puppy mills exist to churn out puppies. Their parents, the dams and the sires, often live in dreadful conditions.

Earlier this year, HART answered the call to go to the home of such a breeder.  He had been hospitalized, and had abandoned 12 adults and 7 puppies. He bred and sold Italian Greyhounds.   HART rescued all 19 dogs.
As a HART donor, where does your money go?
The Iggys

Alfie
To Alfie, who came to HART underweight and needed four surgeries to fix his jaw, broken in pieces so that he could not eat, and to repair a hole in his nose that had rotted through the roof of his mouth.  His devoted foster mom nursed him through all the surgeries and he has just been adopted.

Annie
To Annie, who was missing a leg and had mammary tumors and dental disease.  When she was found, she and her brothers and sisters and puppies had no clean water, and the room she was in was covered in feces and urine.  As you can see, being a three-legged dog does not stop her.  She has been adopted.

Bandi
Your donations go to Bandi, who along with her mates, was rescued and brought to safety.  She has been treated for tumors and dental problems and now lives in a loving home.

Bridgette

Bridgette.  She had cancer and pneumonia, and her immune system was so weakened that she could night fight either.  But she lived in a home for her final days, getting love and attention that she had never  known before. Deceased.

Cherry
Your money goes to rescue sweet Cherry.  When she first came to HART, she did not know how to eat from a dog bowl.  Throughout her life she had only eaten from food thrown on the floor.  She is in a home now, her tumors are gone and her bed is clean, and she will never, ever have to eat from the floor again (unless she wants to).

Jeannie
And your money goes to Jeannie.  She is partially blind and will need surgery to remove mammary tumors.  She is in a foster home now, responding well to the love and attention of people, just like you, who believe that living well requires generosity of spirit, kindness, and love.  She may be 11 years old.  The hard life of being a consistently bred female is behind her.
Lola

To Lola, who died from cancer that had progressed too far.  Her lower jaw was mostly gone and had an oral fistula (hole).   Before she was saved from that breeder, the only medical attention she had ever received was a rabies shot in 2007.  She was with us a few months, kept clean and comfortable, and spent  her last days being cherished.  Deceased.
Mad Max

Mad Max. Loose teeth, disintegrating teeth.  His human, a breeder, had gone into a hospital and abandoned Mad Max and the rest of this pack in squalid conditions.  Along with one of our rescue partners, your HART volunteers brought them to Fairfax County, to medical care, to people who would love them, to homes that would care for them.  Mad Max was adopted.
Whitney
And your donations go for Whitney.  Blind.  Deaf.  Tumors that have been treated.  Your donations have gotten her this far.  She is still waiting for a home.  For someone who will love her, attend to her, calm her fears and take her out to enjoy the sun on her face, the smells of the yard, the feel of a breeze.  Someone who will make sure her water bowl is always full and in the same place, and her food bowl is familiar and has good smells and tasty morsels.  When she falls or stumbles into a wall, she needs someone to scoop her up, give her oodles of kisses, and make her secure in     loving arms.  She is waiting to be adopted.
YOU Make a Difference

By rescuing the Iggy's, HART volunteers have exhausted their energy, cried out many tears and sometimes emptied their pocketbooks to give these little boys and girls a happy ending to their sad beginnings.  It is people like you who donate to HART, volunteer with HART, foster for HART and adopt from HART, who make our noble cause possible.

Your generous financial support allows HART to do this work.  There are other dogs and cats out there that still need to be brought in from the cold, protected from the cruel, sheltered from the hurtful, treated for disease and injury, embraced and cuddled, respected and loved.

Please give today!

***92% of every dollar HART receives goes directly to support the dogs and cats!***
Signed with love for all that you do,

Alfie, Annie, Bandi, Cherry, Jeannie, Mad Max, Whitney, and the rest of the Iggy Family
