Hot & Spicy Blues at Harbourfront Centre
This Labour Day weekend, Harbourfront Centre celebrates the 20 th edition of the Hot & Spicy Food Festival with celebrity chefs like Roger Mooking,  Jonathan Gushue, Luis ValenzuelaNicole Gomes and stellar jazz and blues greats including Grammy nominee  Jane Bunnett & Spirits of Havana, Matt Dusk,  Sharron Matthews,  Shawn Hitchins,  Barbra Lica and the great Blues lineup below. The mouth-watering festivities also include the ChiliKids Junior Chef Competition, the curated Red Hot Market , featuring over 20 vendors, the HarbourKIDS Zone and plenty of free, all-ages family fun.
  The Toronto Blues Society has teamed up with Harbourfront Centre to add some extra spice to their annual Hot & Spicy Food Festival September 1-4. All shows are FREE! Here's the lineup:

TBS Blues in the Garden Sept 23 & 24
Get ready for Blues in the Garden - The Toronto Blues Society's annual garden party! Held in conjunction with the Queen West Art Crawl, Blues In The Garden will feature two days of live blues music from  TBS Talent Search Finalists Bad Luck Woman & Her Misfortunes (in a duo format on Saturday September 23 ) and Catriona Sturton (pictured above) on Sunday September 24.  Music starts at 2pm . Food, beverages and alcohol will be available for purchase. The event is  free to the public.
Second Annual Kensington Jazz Fest Sept 15-16-17
The new kid on the block on Toronto’s jazz festival circuit, Kensington Market Jazz Festival debuted in style in 2016 when over 200 musicians performed over 3 days to packed houses, enthusiastic crowds and a buzzing neighbourhood. The second annual KMJF is back September 15, 16 and 17 with the addition of a big band stage and a new series of curated busking within popular Kensington Market businesses. There's some interesting blues content - Carlos del Junco (pictured above), Danny Marks, the Sinners Choir, Suzie Vinnick as well as Canadian R&B veterans Jay Douglas, Sharon Lee and Shawne Jackson, Jackie Richardson and Alana Bridgewater. Popular craft beer hall Trinity Common will host a dozen shows including “Canada’s Sweetheart of Swing” Alex Pangman.
Shuffling to Port Credit September 8-10
There are still tickets available for the 2017 Beggars Blues Banquet on Thursday September 7th at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 82, 35 Front Street North, Port Credit. It's the festival's big fundraiser and if you want to give the festival a shot in the arm, head over to the Legion on Thursday. $70 gets you a Southern Style buffet dinner featuring smoked Black Angus Beef Brisket, Mississippi Bronzed Catfish, Jambalaya Dirty Rice, Baked Beans and more southern delicacies with music by The Hogtown Allstars and special guests Jack de Keyzer, Kenny Blues Boss Wayne (pictured) and Jenie Thai. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings headline the Southside Shuffle on Saturday September 9. Some other great artists appearing include Steve Strongman, Steve Hill, Paul Reddick, Jack de Keyzer, Harpdog Brown, Danny Brooks & Lil Miss Debi with The Memphis Brothers, Dawn Tyler Watson, Suzie Vinnick and, as every year, the Downchild Blues Band closing out the festival on Sunday Night, September 10. This year's Shuffle is an All-Canadian Celebration (150 Canadian blues musicians celebrating 150 Years). The Street Shuffle and Ontario 150 stages are free. Admission to the ticketed area is $15 on Saturday and Sunday, $10 on Friday or $30 for a week-end pass.
Summer is ending, Blues in cottage country isn't.
If you've not experienced an Etwell Concert yet, they are hosted by the Spring family at their home near Huntsville. In a private, remote country setting sheltered by an open pavilion you'll be served up the best of the blues, rain or shine, until October 1st, after which shows are at indoor venues in town. Peter's Players is a Muskoka (Gravenhurst) venue which attracts superb talent year-round. Host Peter Swanek describes his unique theatre space as so intimate that every ticket is like a backstage pass. Head north and enjoy these gems this fall:
