Where's the "Itis"?
Why Steroids & Ibuprofen Don't Work on Most Pain Conditions.

Greetings!

Steroids and nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen are used to alleviate a host of pain conditions including migraine headaches and chronic joint pain due to osteoarthritis. Happily, these medications can deliver short-term relief that allows us to continue working, recreating and living our lives.

Chronic use of these drugs, however, can cause many serious side effects, such as inhibiting the body's immune system and undermining the gut's capacity to absorb essential nutrients.

On Thursday, Nov. 7, Dr. Jeff Ericksen will give a presentation on using steroids and NSAIDs like ibuprofen to address pain. The event will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the Dolley Madison Library at 1244 Oak Ridge Avenue in McLean  We invite you to join us. Light refreshments will be served. Topics will include:

*  When, if ever, are steroid medications or NSAIDs the best option for treating pain?

*  Are there more effective ways to address chronic pain?

*  If I am using one of these medications, what can I do to keep my immune system and my digestive tract as strong as possible?

Following his talk, Dr. Ericksen will be happy to respond to questions.

There is no charge for this event, but seating is limited, so we encourage you to pre-register.
