Ray of Hope Provides Special Food for Zachary

Zachary

We received an urgent request from John this past January.  He asked for our help.  Zachary (Right), his 16 year old son, has Autism and his primary food nourishment comes from a costly supplement, Ensure.

When Zachary's grandmother recently passed away, John needed to stay with his 94 year old father and help take care of him several days a week.  Zachary helps out too.  Zachary and John spend every Monday and Thursday evening together with Granpop.

The caregiving needs for Zachary's grandfather allowed John to only work part-time and Zachary's medical, therapy, and daily expenses did not cease.

That's when Bello Machre stepped in.

Our Support Services team met up with John and Zachary to offer a little help.  Through our Ray of Hope Program, Bello Machre purchased 14 cases of Ensure for Zachary.

John could not believe his eyes.  He said, "This is enough to provide Zachary with food for months!"

Bello Machre's Ray of Hope Program aids families by providing a little extra help with whatever challenges they may face.  Whether that's providing respite care, the resources to pay for specialized equipment, or simply helping with the purchase of supplements.

We are honored to be able to help families like John and Zachary's - making a difference one family at a time.

WOW, What a House!

Help Open New Doors!

The new Spencer Road home
T
he family has moved in and is excited about the future.  "WOW, what a house!" says, Eric.  All of the home's wonderful features make it truly a model of accessibility - wider doorways, lower counter tops, an overhead lift system, and automatic exterior self-opening doors.

Our builder, Michael Muzik of Cattail Construction, worked with Bello Machre every step of the way throughout the construction process.  Bello Machre is so fortunate to have a friend like Mike who consistently gives back to help those in need.

Michelle Bathras, Chief Operating Officer of Bello Machre, commented, "Mike has taken his passion and talents for building beautiful quality homes and combined that with his new passion...Bello Machre!  He has been a great partner of ours, listening carefully to what we are looking for, especially in the area of state-of-the-art features for accessibility for those who are physically disabled.  He has taken our visions and made them a reality."

Cattail Construction specializes in building New Residential Communities in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  This small, family owned and operated business pays close attention to every detail ensuring exceptional quality throughout the construction process.

The Annapolis Civitan #177 awarded Bello Machre a $15,000 grant for equipment last December.  Bello Machre is blessed to have such a wonderful community partner like our friends at the Annapolis Civitan and honored to be included in their giving mission.

The grant was used to purchase and install an overhead barrier-free lift system and automatic self-opening doors.  This equipment greatly enhances the home's accessibility, but more importantly, the individual's independence.

Jeff Gauges, President of the Annapolis Civitan #177, commented, "We are proud to be associated with Bello Machre and their invaluable work helping people with developmental disabilities in our community."  The Annapolis Club was organized in 1926 and since then has been a model of service to the community and those in need.

Our community partner, Gavigans Home Furnishings, helps make our houses homes providing beautiful furniture at a discounted price.  They also give Bello Machre a percentage back of all purchases.

Bello Machre is grateful to all our community partners, our many friends, and all our supporters who helped make this project possible.  Help support our next new home that will break ground this Spring!
