Neighbors Helping Neighbors:

GPBA members give $8,425 scholarship to Project LIFT student

A big THANK YOU to our many Gramercy Park neighbors who contributed clothing, educational supplies to Rebecca Seow throughout high school, and now are helping to fund her first year at Montclair State University.

Since 1989, our community has supported Project LIFT, which provides ballet scholarships, tutoring, mentoring, medical care, clothing and other support services for homeless/at-risk children living in city shelters.

National Night Out Against Crime

"I'm here to spread the word that blue lives matter, too," said Harrison, who actually formed the GPBA over 20 years ago in response to local crime. "There's no other profession where they wear bulletproof vests when they come to work and their families wonder if they're coming home at night."

Quality of Life:

Con Ed makes emergency repairs on Gramercy Park West

In response to numerous complaints about recent jackhammering throughout the evening, we learned that Con Edison is replacing a cable from Gramercy Park North to Gramercy Park South.  Today they hope to resurface the street.

Gramercy Park Sundial Restoration

Our Gramercy Park historic preservation expert Gabriel Popian has removed the sundial for restoration in his studio. The base of the structure has been buried under years of gravel.

This restoration project is being funded by the National Arts Club.  The sundial was presented to Gramercy Park in May 24, 1958  by The National Arts Club.

Tree Maintenance Program

An important part of the Bartlett Tree Experts maintenance in Gramercy Park is their annual pruning to promote tree health and create safe conditions.

  • Dead branches are removed
  • Dense areas in the tree canopies are opened up to allow sunlight through
  • Ginkgo trees with a heavy bumper crop of fruit are lightened
  • All trees are inspected and the scope of work is pre-determined by the arborist
  • Branches are secured with cables, trees are staked and smaller trees shaped for future growth
