Description:
This 2-day, highly interactive, Motivational Interviewing training was designed to familiarize individuals working in HIV and STI prevention and Linkage to Care programs with the effectiveness of the motivational interviewing counseling style. Participants will learn that motivational interviewing can be used to enhance the drive of service recipients to change and reduce high-risk behavior leading to becoming infected with and/or transmitting HIV and other STIs.  The training is particularly useful for practitioners that are working with populations that are ambivalent or resistant to change and for practitioners working with people of color who live with HIV or are at high risk for HIV, STIs and substance use.
