All-Ages Wreath Decorating

Saturday, December 3 from 1:30 - 4 PM
Sohier Room, Main Library
Bring the entire family to this fun wreath decorating session. We provide decorating materials - you provide the wreath and the creativity. Staff will be available for simple assistance, but will not instruct in decorating techniques. Holiday activity for children, free light refreshments included. Limited supply of wreaths available at the event from 1:30 to 3:30 PM at $10 each, cash or local check.  Registration required - please register HERE

3D Design with SketchUp

Learn the design potential of SketchUp software for 3D printing. Free and open to age 12 and up. No previous experience needed. New Resource! Consumer Reports Online

Which flat screen TVs get the highest ratings? What is the safest car seat for your child? What are the new rules for retirement planning? How safe are the supplements you are taking?  Find the answers to these questions and more at the library’s new subscription to ConsumerReports.org. The site offers much more than the monthly magazine, plus the usual ratings and buying guides. Available to Beverly residents. Check it out at our Learning Resources page
Wireless Printing
 
You can now print wirelessly from home or from inside the library. There are three methods to print: through our Wireless Printing Portal, via email, or with the PrinterOn app for tablets and smartphones. Just send your print job using your preferred method and pick it up the same day at the library! Please see our Wireless Printing page for all the details. 
Fall Genealogy Series
 
Sundays, December 4 and 11 from 2 - 3:30 PM 
Sohier Room, Main Library
Our Fall genealogy series, exploring online sources and specific ancestral groups and regions, concludes this month. On Sunday, December 4 we’ll explore “Canada - That Big Place Up North.” Then, on December 11 join us for an in-depth look at Ancestry.com. (This session is a reschedule of the postponed October 9 program.)  Come to one or both programs. Free; no registration required. Handicapped accessible. Save the Date: 21st Annual Teen Poetry Contest
Calling all teen poets! Starting  Wednesday, January 4, 2017, the library will accept entries from local teens in grades 6 through 12 for our Annual Teen Poetry Contest. Complete information including rules, submission form, and other details will be posted to our Teens page by the opening date.

Holiday Henna and More (open to grades 6 through 12)
Friday, Dec. 9 (NO SCHOOL DAY!) from 1 - 3 PM 
Celebrate NO SCHOOL DAY with us! Get a henna tattoo and make a DIY sharpie ornament to give as a gift (or keep for yourself - we won’t tell). FREE. Snacks & all materials provided. Must bring signed permission slip – available in the Teen Department of the library or here
Check Out a Telescope! For All Ages

The skies are clearest during cold weather so now is the perfect time to borrow one the library's two Orion 4.5 inch Starblast tabletop telescopes! The telescope must be reserved through the Children’s Room and may be borrowed for up to seven days. Patrons who are 18 years and older and have a NOBLE library card in good standing are eligible to borrow it. To reserve a telescope, visit the main library Children’s Desk or call 978-921-6062.

Bring the whole family to celebrate the American Pie Council's National Pie Day with story sharing led by Beverly storyteller Tony Toledo, followed by an extravagant "Pie Potluck"! Winter Story Times begin the week of January 8, 2017. Upcoming programs: 
  • "Brown Bear Crafts," Wednesday, December 14 @ 3:30 PM. Celebrate 50 years of Eric Carle's Brown Bear, Brown Bear by illustrating through clay sculpture. All ages welcome. 
  • Lego Club, Thursday, December 8 @ 3:30 - 4:30 PM. For K-5. Drop-in, no signup needed. 
  • "Musical Mornings with Miz Liz," Saturday, December 10 @ 10 AM. Fun, interactive mix of music, movement and literature for ages 0 - 5 and parents, caregivers. 
  • "A Little Night Music and Rhyme," Mondays at 6:30 PM (will not meet December 26 and January 2). For families and kids under 5 (or so). 
  • Massachusetts Children's Book Award (MCBA) Club, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 @ 4 PM. See all details for this program and others on the Kids Page.

Paintings in oil, acrylics and watercolors, as well as photographs.
