West Virginia's Summer of Love 

Cue Led Zeppelin, because West Virginia is getting a Whole Lotta Love this summer from our state's dedicated volunteers.

There are so many ways to help. Easy one time volunteer projects, flood recovery internships, AmeriCorps, and more.

EARTH DAY 
West Side Neighborhood Cleanup 
April 22nd  | Charleston 

Help clean up Charleston's West Side in honor of Earth Day during this annual event. 

Bring a friend and lend a hand getting litter off the streets, 9 AM to Noon  at the intersection of Washington Street West and Beatrice Street.

Jackson's Mill Volunteer Workday 
April 22nd  | Weston 

Get a behind the scenes peak of Jackson's Mill! 

Volunteers are needed to plant seedlings, build a new fence, paint, clean out attics, and more. The event will last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., lunch will be provided.

WV FLOOD 
WV Strong Flood Rocovery Program Seeks Applicants 
Kanawha, Nicholas, Clay County

This full-time volunteer opportunity comes with a living allowance and scholarship/end of service bonus.  

Positions are available in Kanawha, Nicholas, and Clay County. VISTA volunteers will help individuals, families, and communities recover from the recent devastating floods that hit the region in June 2016.  Learn more here

Rainelle Summer Internships 
June 1st -August 15th | Rainelle  

Potomac Highlands Fuller Center for Housing has full-time rewarding high impact opportunities for individuals to serve in Rainelle.

Construction and community outreach positions are available for summer 2017. Interns will receive a summer stipend of $1,500, payable on the 1st and 15th of each month, plus a $1,500 educational award. Modest housing is to those available on an as needed basis. Stars and Strides Equine Therapy Center provides cognitive, physical, emotional, and social therapy to individuals with the help of horses.

The program wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers! 

Volunteers are needed to be sidewalkers (walking alongside the horse and rider and helping to secure the rider in their seat). Plenty of additional opportunities are  available for individuals in the education and therapy fields as well as anyone who has horse experience. It is construction season again!  Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha and Putnam is working on more homes than ever and they have an urgent need for more volunteers!  Won't you help our home buyers achieve their dream of a new home?

The Northern Panhandle Needs Our Help! 
Ongoing  | Northern Panhandle 

The Red Cross needs more volunteers in the Northern Panhandle.  Organizers say they realized when Follansbee was flooded in July, that one volunteer in all of Brooke County wasn't enough. Volunteers constitute about 90% of the Red Cross workforce. Volunteers respond to flooding, house fires, help prepare meals and more. Learn more here
