Hey, What's in Those Pockets?
It is September and the days are getting shorter. Although it is getting a bit cooler and winter is on the (distant) horizon it is certainly not time to put the bikes away. If you are anything like me you will squeeze the season for every ride possible. Yup, you have a nice bike, maybe some cycling shoes and a helmet but there may be a couple of extra items that are missing from your gear closet.
There are 3 simple items that, together, can help you get an extra month or two out of each cycling season. A wind vest, knee warmers and arm warmers together with your exsisting cycling clothing can make each ride comfy through fall and spring. Best of all the whole package easily fits into the pockets on any cycling jersey.
So on a cold September morning you may, for example, start your ride when it is only 10 degrees. The vest, arm and knee warmers would be a must but could be shed as the sun warms the day. With this set of gear it is possible for you to be comfortable from 10 chilly degrees in the morning to 28 sweltering degrees in the afternoon . No need for a telephone both and a superhero suit here. The only change throughout the ride is that your pockets get stuffed as you adjust your clothing needs.
This discussion can go on past what we call the shoulder seasons of early-fall and late-spring. Cycling shoe covers, leg warmers, thermal gloves and helmet liners each have their place ...but that talk is another season.
For now we would like to offer cyclists who are new to cool weather cycling a great deal to get them started.
The Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Vest, Thermal Knee Warmer and Thermal Arm Warmer are $195 if purchased seperately.
Until September 15th we are offering this package at $150. So bring on fall, I say!
