ACES Education Update
ACES Ed
This month, ACES Education continues to explore our dynamic winter world with Aspen Mountain Snow Science programs . Through a wonderful partnership with the Aspen Skiing Company, ACES is able to bring kindergarten through high school students from Aspen to Rifle up to the top of Aspen Mountain. As part of these programs, students snowshoe, dig snow pits, analyze snow pack conditions, learn to operate avalanche beacons, and even watch the ski patrol rescue dogs in action. Standing on top of their home watershed, ACES Education students learn the critical importance of our snow pack while making memories that will last a lifetime.

At the adult and teacher level, ACES Education is hosting this year's Northwest Environmental Education Leadership Summit , an annual gathering of teachers, administrators, non-profit and government agency leaders that focuses on bringing the Colorado Environmental Education Plan (CEEP) to life. The CEEP is a plan put forth by the Colorado Department of Education with the goal of establishing environmental science education as a fundamental element in public schools statewide. ACES Education is also hosting the KidWind Challenge , a day-long teacher training workshop that integrates physics, cooperative problem-solving, and renewable energy education through designing and building wind turbine models.
