ACES Ed Update
This spring, ACES kicked off a new partnership with Kathryn Senor Elementary School (KSE) in New Castle with ACES' Family Science Night . This event brought together over 120 students, parents, and relatives to explore a wide range of science projects and interactive learning stations. This year, Family Science Night included the opportunity to dissect owl pellets, blend smoothies while learning about transfer of energy with the ACES bike blender, and explore techniques of water quality testing through our macro-invertebrate identification station. This fall, ACES will begin teaching at our official classroom at KSE, which will mark our 4th formal partnership with public schools in Colorado .

As we move into May, our high school students in our Tomorrow's Voices program are gearing up for the end of the school year and their final action projects . After a full year of studying social justice and environmental ethics, students put this learning into action through creating an action project in their local community. Keep your eyes open for local action in your community from this amazing group of high school juniors and seniors!
Sustainability & Education Apprenticeship
for High School Students
ACES Sustainability and Education Apprenticeship is designed to introduce high school students to environmental science and education careers. The program is available for college credit and features experiential immersion in environmental science, sustainable living, education, and action.

Applications are due May 19th. Click below for more information and to apply.
Summer Educators-in-Training:
Volunteers Needed
ACES seeks young adults ages 14 and up to volunteer this summer!

Volunteers will help ACES Educators during our week-long summer camps for kids, ages 4 - 14. This opportunity is perfect for teens who are looking for increased responsibilities in a fun and educational setting, especially those who may have "graduated" from ACES camps or are interested in the field of environmental education.

Colorado Public Lands Day
Saturday, May 19th is Colorado Public Lands Day !

" In May 2016, Colorado became the first state in the nation to establish a state holiday for our public lands. The third Saturday in May is now recognized as Colorado Public Lands Day, a day to celebrate how our public lands are central to our economy and our quality of life. Colorado Public Lands Day is a chance to get outside and enjoy our unparalleled wild places and to give back to the public lands that provide us with so much ."

Colorado has 24 million acres of public lands and is the first state in the nation to establish its own Public Lands Day. To show your support, join ACES staff by getting out and enjoying your public lands!
