Book Fairs
Did you know that the book fair profits go to purchase additional books for our school libraries?  This year more than $14,000 went to help our schools put books into the hands of kids.  Thanks for supporting our efforts. The final book fair of the year is this week during conferences at the middle school.

Upcoming Events:

2/1-2/28:
"I Love to Read" Month

2/19: Coffee and Conversation with Superintendent Thimm at the Wagon Wheel in Chisago City from 8:00 - 8:45 a.m.

2/21-2/22: Home Show at the high school

2/23: 4th grade field trip to Wild Mountain Ski Area

Check out Mr. Nordby's movie trailer for Lakeside's "I Love to Read Month" kick off!

2/26-2/28: MS Play

Well, we can put another successful Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Dance in the books.  More than 300 families participated this year - with a magic show, face painting, tea party, nail painting, corsage making, and dancing just some of the highlights. In high school sports, state tournament time is here - alpine skiing and dance were held recently and the wrestling team heads to the individual section tournament at the end of this week to qualify for state competition. Middle school students will be performing a play
at the end of the month if you're up for a little theater. Here's hoping your cooler than normal February is cooler in all the ways that really count.

CL Alumni Teaching Across the District

We have a surprising number of teachers who attended Chisago Lakes Schools. Out of 214 teachers in the district, can you guess what percentage of teachers are alumni?  I'll give you a hint - not all are pictured...So, 5%, 9%, 13%, 17%? Extra credit for your guess on which school has highest percentage of alumni...ready to guess?

To submit stories on alumni please email CLSD Alumni News.
Student Athletes Looking to the Future
February 4th was National Signing Day and some of our student athletes signed Letters of Intent: Jake Klein, Football, Minnesota State - Moorhead; Lauren Delzer, Soccer, UW - Green Bay; Jake Doble, Diving, Colorado - Mesa; and Dylan Connell, Wrestling, UW - Green Bay signed letters for NCAA Division 1 or Division 2 schools.  Other athletes pictured were recognized for their commitment to play at the Division 3 level where Letters of Intent are not used.

Is it time to go digital on the District Calendar?

We're wondering if it's time to change the format for the district community calendar.  It's difficult to keep a printed version current and accurate. Please link to the survey to let us know what you think.
There are still plenty of activities and fun to be had in what can seem like a very long winter season. We see the days getting longer and brighter, knowing that spring can't be too far off. Experience tells us that once the high school greenhouse has started growing plants, we can start planning for warmer days...

Sincerely,

The Communications Team
