Girls Swimming & Diving Standouts Honored at CLHS
|
Savannah Gorski and Hannah Stec |
CLHS celebrated Savannah Gorski and Hannah Stec on Wednesday with the first ever Wildcat "walk-through" Pep Fest. (The activities office is looking for a better name for the event, so feel free to
email your suggestions.) The girls wound their way through the halls of the high school, cheered on by the students and staff, and followed by the marching band.
These two talented Wildcat athletes are heading to the state tournament in Swimming and Diving which starts with preliminaries today and runs through Saturday. Events are held at the Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center at the U of M.
If you would like to go and support the girls, tickets are $5 for diving prelims, $8 for swimming prelims, and $8 for finals. You can find more information
here.

Veterans Day Wrap Up of Events
Last week, Chisago Lakes schools celebrated veterans in a variety of ways. At
Lakeside Elementary, students heard from veteran Rocky Otte about his organization
H.O.O.A.H. (Helping Out Our American Heroes); at CLMS, students created a flag out of stars with the names of veterans that students know; at
Taylors Falls Elementary, veterans were invited in for a coffee and cookie reception while students filed in meet and say thanks.
On Friday afternoon students, staff, and community members gathered at CLHS to honor veterans and celebrate Veterans Day. Voice of Democracy essay winner
Isabelle Lindahl read her winning essay,
Superintendent Dean Jennissen spoke about "Service, Loyalty, Sacrifice" in his tribute, and student council co-presidents Maria Hofdahl and Ryan Mower read "In Flanders Fields" and explained the significance of the poppies. The CLHS stage choir sang the
National Anthem
and
America the Beautiful
, while the CLHS Wind Ensemble played a medley of Service Songs. A special treat for the students of CLHS came in the form of a message sent by deployed IT teacher Scott Leffler who sent a letter and a video, along with a flag. You can see the whole program thanks to the Media Production class.
