The end of first term is upon us, and the holidays seem right around the corner.  The annual craft fair at the middle school is Saturday, November 7th, and Monday, November 9th, teachers have a staff development day to prepare for the new term - so no school for kids.  The musical Grease  will be performed at the high school later this month, and plenty of youth and adult activities and classes are starting up through  Community Ed.  Continue to connect with us with our website and Facebook to stay up to date on all the latest news.

 Career and Technical Education Program

A Chisago area manufacturing tour on October 14th brought Chisago Lakes high school students to visit five local manufacturing sites. Students were from the high school Career and Technical Education program. They spent the day touring different manufacturing companies in the area, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities available in the industry.

The companies that teemed up to provide this valuable experience were Haus Specialty Manufacturing, Kendall Howard, LEI Packaging, Plastic Products, and Smith Metals.

Governor Dayton Proclaims Nov. 1-7 Gifted and Talented Youth Week
In addition to recognizing the unique potential of these students, it is an excellent opportunity to recognize the contributions of the parents, educators, counselors and psychologists with whom they work. Their sustained efforts, coupled with the organized advocacy of the Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented and the Minnesota Educators of Gifted and Talented, help make our state one in which gifted learners are honored and valued.  Curriculum Director Sarah Schmidt described the district's Gifted and Talented programming in a recent newspaper article.
Schools Plan Celebrations of Veteran's Day Across the District

Every year Chisago Lakes Schools celebrate and honor area veterans.  This year, CLHS will offer a presentation on November 11th at 1:30 p.m., welcoming veterans and the community to attend. The public is asked to use the PAC parking lot and entry doors. At Taylors Falls Elementary, students welcome veterans to come in for coffee and cookies in the school cafeteria on Friday, November 13th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Other sites will have other celebrations of Veteran's Day that are not open to the public to allow students and staff to honor the sacrifices our veterans made and continue to make. There will be a roundup of pictures in the next newsletter.

On the calendar:

Nov. 9: Staff Development Day - No School
Nov. 9: Adventure Day through Kids Club

Nov. 10: November School Board Meeting at 6:30 at the District Office

Nov. 11: Veteran's Day (see article for school activities)

Nov. 17: PTO Fundraiser Night at the Northern - mention the PTO and 10% of your pretax bill will go back to the schools!
