You may notice a different look to our bi-monthly newsletter. We're trying to make it more mobile-friendly, while still giving you all in the information you need and plenty of pictures.   You may also notice a different masthead than we usually use - we are celebrating being named one of the Star Tribune's Top 150 Workplaces over the summer. ACT data became available and things are looking good. The football season is off to a fast start with Homecoming on September 25th against Monticello. And, we are excited to be starting the 2015-2016 school year!

New Teachers Across the District:
It seems that summer passes by faster every year, and the new teachers look younger and younger. With a kick-off meeting which including a bus tour of the district, the new teachers got their feet wet in early August, and introduced themselves to the district in late August, with a lead-in courtesy of Comedy Central.

Based on research and best practices in education, Chisago Lakes pairs each of our new teachers with an experienced mentor teacher in his or her subject area and building. Hiring and retaining teachers is part of our Strategic Plan under the Exceptional Workforce focus area.

Oh, Say Can You Hear?

To kick off the Labor Day weekend, the Ecumen Parmly LifePointes Choir joined a trio of members from the Chisago Lakes high school choir to sing the National Anthem before the football game between Chisago Lakes and North Branch. It wasn't exactly football weather, but both the choir and football team battled through to victory.
Portables have arrived at Lakeside: Teachers and students move in...
Over the summer, work was completed at Lakeside Elementary on the installation of two portable building housing two classrooms each.  The 5th grade team of Baker, Klecker, Nordby, and Overgaard packed up their belongings and moved outside.  Luckily, Mrs. Johnson had an "in" with the 7th grade football team and was able to hire some muscle to help with the move.

Teachers and students are finding many things to love about the new portables - including reading nooks between Mrs. Klecker and Mrs. Overgaard's classrooms.
