North Texas Giving Day

The Countdown is on - only 2 days to North Texas Giving Day!

North Texas Giving Day
Thursday, September 17th
6:00am - Midnight

This year the money raised on Thursday, September 17th will be used to provide air conditioning & heat to the 1st - 3rd grade hallway & the 4th - 6th grade hallway. Last year, SAS raised $75,000 on North Texas Giving Day.   Your  donation will benefit all of our students. Bonus funds and rewards will be randomly awarded to organizations throughout the 18 hours of giving.

Remember, this is not an Annual Fund donation. North Texas Giving Day will not allow anything to be given to the donor in return for a donation. For example, with an $1800 donation, you would normally receive a table at the Auction. North Texas Giving Day does not allow us to do this. For that reason, we had to make North Texas Giving day a separate fundraiser. Please prayerfully consider making a donation to both North Texas Giving Day and the Annual Fund.

As always, thank you for everything you do to make our school such a wonderful faith-filled community.

Book Fair

We invite you to attend our Scholastic "Monster Book Fair" which will begin on Friday, September 18 th , and run through September 25 th  in our school library. This book fair is a fundraiser for the 8th grade year-end activities.

Volunteers are needed!   We have plenty of shifts to fill and would love to have your help!  As a volunteer, you can sign up to help the little ones complete their wishlists (Friday, the 18th), help with the registers (they are very simple to use!), help during Booknic times which will be very busy, and/or help set up or tear down the book fair.  Please feel free to sign up for as many shifts as you would like.

Booknic

Parents and/or grandparents are invited to join us during one of our Booknic events.  Bring a blanket, have lunch with your child in the courtyard, and then visit our book fair.  We will be hosting the Booknic over the course of several days based on the following schedule:

Tuesday, September 22nd - ½ day PreK classes, Kindergarten, 3rd  and 5th  grades

Wednesday, September 23rd - All day PreK classes, 1st, 4th, and 7th grades

Thursday, September 24th - 2nd, 6th, and 8th grades

Booknic will be held during your child's regular school lunch time.   Early next week, your child will bring home a Booknic RSVP form or you can print it out.   Please return the form by Friday, Sep. 18th.  Those students whose parents are not able to attend the Booknic will have lunch in the cafeteria and recess as usual.  If you cannot make it to the Booknic, please feel free to come to the Book Fair whenever it is convenient.  We will be open from 7:30am-3:30pm every day through the 24th, and from 7:30am-12:00pm on the 25th.

Spiritual Lending Library

Did you know our school has a Spiritual Lending Library with faith-based books available to all parents?

Many Catholics don't know Mary as well as they should. Do you know the Church's five essential Marian doctrines, and how they're rooted in Scripture and Sacred Tradition? Can you explain the difference between the Immaculate Conception and the Virgin Birth? Or share the messages and secrets of Mary's most famous apparitions?

Check out  Meet Mary, by Mark Miravalle, from our Spiritual Lending Library in the school's lobby.  You will learn everything the Bible says about her, what the early Christians believed, and all of the Church's key Marian teachings  over the  past 2,000 years.

Soon, you will turn to Mary with your cares and joys; in sorrows you'll experience her gentle embrace. You'll also become a better disciple of Jesus, for the Son commands us to imitate him in all things - including perfect love of his mother.
Annual Fund

Please send your Annual Fund pledge card to the office.  REMEMBER all gifts matter and make a difference in our participation percentage.  If any parent or grandparent knows someone at a foundation or corporation that might consider making a donation to SAS, please call Rose Hall, SAS Development Director, at 817-292-4355 or send her an  email.  Thank you so much.

World Mission Sunday

All Priests, Deacons, Consecrated Religious, and
Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Fort Worth
are invited to join
Bishop Michael Olson
for Mass in preparation for
World Mission Sunday
October 11, 2015
5:00pm
St. Patrick Cathedral

"Dear brothers and sisters, a true missionary is passionate for the Gospel. Saint Paul said: "Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel!" (1 Cor 9:16). The Gospel is the source of joy, liberation and salvation for all men and women. The Church is aware of this gift, and therefore she ceaselessly proclaims to everyone "what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes" (1 Jn 1:1). The mission of the servants of the Word - bishops, priests, religious and laity - is to allow everyone, without exception, to enter into a personal relationship with Christ. In the full range of the Church's missionary activity, all the faithful are called to live their baptismal commitment to the fullest, in accordance with the personal situation of each." (Pope Francis, message for World Mission Sunday 2015)
