September 15, 2017

Our world is filled with events and situations that can cause great fear and anxiety. It's easy to become overwhelmed and live imprisoned by fear.  We are promised in God's Word that he is faithful and will protect us ( 2 Thessalonians 3:3 ).  God wants us to let go of fear and to live life to the fullest! ( John 10:10 ) When you are overcome by worry, use these prayers for protection to remember who God is and the protection he has promised you.
Prayer for Personal Protection:  Psalms 5:11-12, Romans 8:6, Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8 and Ephesians 6:10-12
Prayer from Scripture: Numbers 6:22-27

Be in His Safety and Security.

Support the HCLS Apple Pie Challenge

Hales Corners Lutheran School is kicking off its annual Apple Pie Fundraiser on
Friday, September 15 and students are upping the ante with a goal to have 500 pies donated to the  Ebenezer Stone Food Pantry for their annual Thanksgiving Meal Box program. HCLS is selling delicious, homemade 10" Dutch apple pies at a discounted rate for 2 or more, so order a few for yourself, take one to a neighbor or friend and be sure to donate a pie to help feed local families in need this Thanksgiving! All of the proceeds from this fundraiser go toward supporting our students and the ministry of Hales Corners Lutheran School.

The HCLS Apple Pie Fundraiser goes from Friday, September 15 through Sunday, October 1 and orders can be  placed online. Pies cost $15 each or $12.50/pie if purchasing two or more and pre-payment is required (checks can be made out to Hales Corners Lutheran). Our Dutch apple pies come ready-to-bake and they can also be frozen to save for the upcoming holidays.

You have 3 options for ordering your pies (pre-payment is required, payment to Hales Corners Lutheran or HCL):
  1. You can order your pies online right now!
  2. Purchase your pies through HCLS students directly to support their fundraising goals.
  3. Pies will be for sale in Common Grounds after services on September 23rd/24th and September 30th/October 1st

1st Quarter Chapel Offerings - Haiti
Our HCLS chapel offerings for the first quarter will be dedicated for the people of Haiti.  As a congregation,  w e work with Pastor Mike at Mission Experience in the city of Port au Prince, Haiti. Our mission trips include a work project or several work projects, leading a VBS for the kids at the orphanage, and continuing to build relationships with the children and employees at the orphanage. Our missionaries may also have the opportunity to visit a local school to share a devotion, do a craft together, and play with the children.

Mr. Amling, Mrs. Horn, Mrs. Campbell and the team this past summer led a conference for the teachers of Haiti to help them with their professional development - something that they don't often have the opportunity to receive.

Here is an update from Pastor Wood:
Our chapel offerings will go directly to help the kids we serve in Haiti.
This fall our kids will be moving into their new home!  This has been a long journey and we are excited for what God will still do in their lives.
There are always projects to do - building to finish the new site, helping the kids with school supplies and other things they need, and much more.
Thank you for giving generously to your brothers and sisters in Haiti!
