December 15, 2017
Dear Families,
Have you felt rushed in the morning or forgot special materials for a project? That's a silly question ... of course we've had that type of start to our day! More than once another parent has helped by running home or to a store to bring back supplies for another student. These parents saw a need and responded in love.

Earlier this year one of our young students lost a green crayon. When the school year first starts and supplies are brand new it's not always easy to want to share with others; however, a classmate quickly broke her own crayon in half to share with her friend. She saw a need and responded in love.

This Christmas season we celebrate the birth of our Savior, who came from Heaven to Earth to die for our sins and rise again to give us eternal life. God saw our need and responded in love!

Our intentional acts of love are thank you notes to our Heavenly Father. Last week I happened to be outside two of our classrooms as students were leaving for the day.  What a beautiful way to end the school day as each student stopped at the door and the teacher said, "Jesus loves you and so do I." How blessed we are to share that love of Christ with each other!

2017 DPI School Report Card
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) generates Accountability Report Cards for all publicly funded schools and districts in the state. Report cards for private schools participating in the Private School Choice Program were first required for the 2015-16 school year. Choice schools did not receive any score or ratings on last year's accountability report card, since DPI only had a single year of data available for Choice students and the report cards require multiple years of data to produce a score. As such, 2016-17 is the first year that private schools participating in the Choice Program can receive overall scores or ratings.

DPI produces two versions of each Report Card:  a one-pager labeled "School Report Card" and lengthier, detailed version labeled, "School Report Card Detail." Both versions can be accessed online at http://dpi.wi.gov/accountability/report-cards along with resources that explain the report cards.   While our school has received a Private School - Choice Students Report Card that focuses only on students participating in the Choice program, please note that schools that did not have sufficient data to calculate an accountability score or rating will see "NR-Data" in the top left corner. This can occur if there are too few choice students in the school.

The legislative requirements to produce these report cards allow choice schools to opt-in to receive a report card for all students attending the private school. We have chosen to not opt into the Private School Report Card at this time and will continue to evaluate in the future.  As required by our participation in MCPC and WCPC, here is the link to the one page School Report Card for Hales Corners Lutheran School: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iFBhtreKhqCGsEuTGyy3Mf4pIHI7Q11o/view?usp=sharing
