HCL Outreach Efforts for
Hurricane Harvey
We are joining our church in reaching out to the many people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  We will be collecting a special offering this week and next week in chapel. If you'd like to give right away, you are also able to do so online by  clicking here and providing a gift under "Weekend Door Offering."  Below are some of the items needed to help our sister congregations serve their neighbors in the recovery efforts. There will be bins in the Atrium at the Janesville Campus or inside the ramp door by the receptionist office at the Grange campus to collect supplies, your generous donations are greatly appreciated before Wednesday, September 6:
  • Sleeping bags (lightweight) - we have a donor giving 100 cots for those who are displaced.
  • Extension cords
  • Shovels
  • Buckets
  • Contractor trash bags
  • Safety masks (for breathing)
  • Gloves - work gloves and rubber gloves

Letter to Parents

Each time I drive to the Janesville campus I am amazed at the progress of our building addition, even one day can bring significant changes!  I started thinking again about 1 Corinthians 3:9-11 which says,

"For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building.  By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."

How important that we build the foundation of our hearts with care and that our foundation is centered on Jesus!  We are God's building material and He is using us to build His Kingdom - what an amazing opportunity we have as parents and educators to share the power of God's love with His children every day!

I also started thinking about the different building materials and the different purpose each material has in building the structure, just as God uses different people with different gifts for building His church.  So while we are all different building materials, we are God's workmanship!

Please look again at verses 10-11....   By the grace God has given me (not my work)
  • Each one should build with care
  • Jesus Christ is our Firm Foundation!
So as we see the physical building taking place, please keep in mind how God is building us and using us to build His church!   It is a JOY to be in ministry with you!

Dear God,
You are our creator and redeemer.  We are thankful for the ways you make us perfectly unique and use us in different ways to build your church.  Please give us wisdom as we help your children grow this year.  Please send your Holy Spirit to strengthen our faith and renew us for serving you each day.
In Your Holy Name we pray,  Amen

Thank you again for your help in developing our school into the very best we can be!
