NEWS FROM THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT
We are celebrating our music students in a variety of ways as we approach the end of the first semester.

First off, congratulations to our all state band, orchestra and chorus students who will attend the FMEA All State conference in Tampa in January.  This is the thirteenth consecutive year NNMS Music has students attending all-state in all three disciplines of music from NNMS. That is quite an accomplishment!

Recently a good number of our students auditioned for and were selected to our CCPS All County Honor groups. This distinction will place our music students in groups with other very highly accomplished singers and musicians from our county-"the best of the best"!  We have a notable representation for all of our music ensembles again for All County.  Performances for All County will begin in January.

Solo and Ensemble successes were recently had by our orchestra students. We congratulate these students on their Superior and Excellent commendations. The band S&E students will perform in February at Lehigh Sr. High School.

Our recent Krispy Kreme doughnut/coffee fundraiser was a sweet success.  The music staff appreciated the efforts of many of our music students and families as well as friends of NNMS Music. We were able to raise over $6,000 for the NNMS Music Dept.

Our community enjoyed some very fine performances for our Holiday Concert series. The intermediate and advanced music groups combined for a Holiday Spectacular featuring orchestra, band and chorus in one program.  Our youngest musicians and singers had top notch first performances this past November and December.

We applaud all of our singers and musicians for a first semester of outstanding accomplishments.

In November, twenty of the finest math minds gathered to compete for one of five spots on the Math Counts Team.  Three 8th  grade students,  Carson Hedrich, Jonah Rachman , and Kevin Faist,  made the team.   Two 7th grade students, Noah Thorne and Hudson Fry, also qualified.  On December 1st, the team traveled to the District Administrative Center to compete against all other middle schools in the county.  Our team persevered through the challenging Sprint Round, breezed through the Target Round, and crushed the Team Round.  The competition was fierce, but in the end, North Naples prevailed and brought home another championship!! The team will be preparing from next level of competition which takes place in February in Fort Myers.  We are all very proud of them and wish them the best!

Escape Rooms at NNM
Mrs. Bertuna's class all survived their Ela midterm review escape rooms! The students were given a series of tasks, clues, and locks and had to work collaboratively as a team to solve the problems and escape the room. They had a blast!
