Wild Time Hot Pick!

Batman #39

Hey Folks ,

The middle of the 1st month of this new year is
already here and things are rolling right along.

O.K. and now for some less than
enthusiastic remarks about DC's newest announcements ...

March 2018  DC's Young Animal imprint relaunches most of its titles following the events of the "Milk Wars" crossover. Shade, The Changing Girl will become Shade, The Changing Woman, with Cave Carson has a Cybernetic Eye turning into Cave Carson has an Interstellar Eye, and finally Mother Panic leaping into the future and being titled Mother Panic: Gotham A.D. There will also be a new series from the imprint titled Eternity Girl, written by  Magdalene Visaggio with art by Sonny Lew.
[ Oh boy,  I can feel the over-whelming desire building up in the comics community as we speak ]

[ Also making it's "long demanded" return is the Milestone universe ]

DC Publisher Jim Lee, writer/producer/director Reginald Hudlin and Milestone co-founder and artist Denys Cowan announced the return of popular characters of the Dakota Universe in a new collaboration called Earth M for spring 2018.
The launch book will be titled MILESTONE, and will create the foundation and over-arching storyline for future Earth M titles. The series, from writer Reginald Hudlin and artist Ken Lashley, will focus on Icon and Rocket and will feature other classic Dakota Universe characters from the '90s.

STATIC SHOCK, an ongoing series from Hudlin and Kyle Baker, focusing on 14-year-old Virgil Hawkins. [ O.K. possible hit here.]
DUO, a new Earth M miniseries written by Greg Pak, introducing the twisted story of a couple sharing one body for eternity. [ interesting so why a mini-series? ]
EARTH M, a new series from Hudlin and Alice Randall featuring a mysterious new vigilante character. [ Wow! Mysterious! ]
LOVE ARMY, a miniseries with story by Hudlin, about a secret army of women with amazing abilities and super-strength, sworn to protect the planet.
[ Seriously? Love Army? Because they're women? Hey DC would you call a group of male warriors Love Army? I mean unless they are being led by Courtney Love, or more likely Christi Love ( look it up 1974 ), or perhaps taking place on the Love Boat, this is a poor choice of names, especially given the current equality climate. Maybe not too big a deal, but still stupid. ]

[ And here is another incredibly smoking line-up of treasures sure to fill the shelves with unsold copies. Already postponed once we'll start seeing some of these soon.]

DC's NEW AGE OF HEROES
Damage #1 by Robert Venditti and Tony S Daniel
The Silencer #1 by Dan Abnett and John Romita
Sideways #1 by Dan DiDio, Justin Jordan and Kenneth Rocafort
The Terrifics #1 by Jeff Lemire and Ivan Reis
The Immortal Men #1, by James Tynion and Jim Lee
[ O.K. there are some pretty powerful creative teams here, building off of events in the Batman: Metal story and maybe even a few good character line-ups, but such as the Terrifics, but I smell short runs for the rest. Challengers of the Unknown isn't even listed yet, not that we're waiting with bated breath. ]

Well snide comments and negative expectations aside at least we can look forward to ACTION COMICS #1000 featuring Brian Bendis' 1st work at DC.
Calm down, it's only a back-up story.

And Oscar-winning screenwriter  John Ridley, writer of 12 Years a Slave, will be penning a miniseries titled The Other History of the DC Universe, which is suppose to fill in a lot of background for the foundations of characters and the DCU.

On the other side of the coin, it appears that MARVEL will be getting CONAN back. I expect the contract must be up over at Dark Horse and Marvel / Disney made an overwhelming offer to re-acquire the Barbarian. Hmmm will they chase down Red Sonja over at Dynamite as well? We'll see.

Anyway, check out the really cool stuff shipping this week.

A GREAT BIG
THANK YOU
FROM
Randy and the Wild Time Crew
