Support the launch of One Book, One Community
Uniting our community through the power of reading.

For many of us, picking up a book and reading is a way to escape to new places, expand our minds or explore important new ideas. This summer, and into the next school year, students across Medina County will have the opportunity to do just that thanks to the One Book, One Community program. United Way of Medina County, the Medina County District Library, the Wadsworth Public Library, and school districts throughout the county are partnering on this program to offer students the opportunity to participate in a community-wide common reading and learning experience.
This year, 6th graders will read The Seventh Most Important Thing by Ohio author Shelley Pearsall. Inspired by American folk artist James Hampton, Pearsall’s novel is a powerful story of friendship, transformation and art. This program supports the value of shared experiences across generations as families come together to read and explore the themes uncovered in the book. One Book, One Community also complements United Way’s strategic focus on improved reading skills, youth resiliency and community engagement.

Without the support of our community, this program would not be possible. Donors like you provide students with an opportunity to exercise their reading skills and participate in unique activities that complement the experience. We hope you will join us again in supporting One Book, One Community. For each gift, or increment of $10.00, we will place your name on a book plate so that the students receiving the books know who made their reading experience possible.

Please visit unitedwaymedina.org/give to make your gift. Our children and our community will appreciate your generosity! Thank you for all you do to help make this work possible.

Kind regards,

Cheryl Parzych, CEO
