It's been a shuffle, and with the staffing situation settling in, we're pleased to be getting back to what we really love to do at Buddings: plan amazing programs and opportunities for toddlers and preschoolers! The kids! Of course!
This week, we've got lots of programming news, about morning circle times, the preschool showcase, and upcoming fieldtrips, but before we get to the
things we'll be doing, we want to introduce some
people who will be doing them. (That's all in the articles below. :)
website improvement survey
is running all month, and we want to thank the 11 people who filled it out last week! ...That only leaves 89 more families, and any other interested website users, to fill it in by June 30 for a chance to win $100!
All that and more, below!
The irreplaceable Jen Labelle... remains irreplaceable...
But in her absence, while she waits for her new arrival (two days late, and counting), the daycare team is starting to come together. And fly apart!
First and foremost, we're pleased to introduce Lisa and Lara, who will both be joining us for some regular morning shifts (for the busy, busy, busy toddler times!), as well as covering some upcoming subbing shifts between June 13 and 20 -
when Talia is on holiday. More about them next week...
Secondly, our first-ever-practicum student (!!) Charmaine Feng is also with us this month, from
Sprott Shaw College. She has a list of activity requirements and projects to implement, and will be working with Sarah and Lisa to complete a 3-week video project, circle times, and so much more! She's super sweet, and we're excited to have her join us.
Last but not least (in fact, the most exciting announcement of all!), we are super thrilled that our resident toddler expert and morning mastermind Sarah MacDonald will be crossing over - to afternoons!
Starting in July, Sarah will be the full-time daycare supervisor (
Yay!!), and she and Johanna will be collaborating to bring you an amazing summer fieldtrip program.
They will be sharing the planning and coordinating of the Big Kids Club, and can be reached jointly at
Checking in WITH YOU about Buddings
This month, we want to hear from you about our website. We want to know if it's working for you, and how we could improve.
Please, please take a moment to complete the multiple choice questionnaire, and leave a comment in every single box, if you want to. It won't take more than 10 minutes, but if you've ever been a member, we'll credit you 3 hours of childcare in June, and even if you just like taking surveys, you could win $100 gift card.
We're going to read it all, and your feedback will help us improve our services, delivery, and will inform us on taking the company forward.
Quick Links and Parent Resources
Come to the Preschool Program Showcase - June 19 @ 3pm
Wondering about preschool programs for your 3, or almost 3 year old? Joining the Buddings program is as easy as booking hours from 1 - 4pm!
There's no additional cost, and there are huge additional benefits! Group learning, social development, imagination exercises, and physical activities. Our Big Kids Club is the preschooler program on a flexible basis... but it runs from 1 - 4pm.
Want to see what it's all about?
Join us at 3pm on Friday, June 19, for the Programs Showcase!
This season, Johanna and Drago the Dragon led the
class through forests and all around, picking up a whole... flock?... Flight! A whole flight of little dragons along the way. The kids are presenting what they've learned, and you're welcome to drop in!
Lisa Sars, of Butterfly Feet Kids kept us on our toes all season, and will be presenting a special Friday class of her by-now-famous yoga dance, as well!
As your child grows, Buddings has a program that nurtures their developing interests. Come see what being a Buddings Big Kid is all about on June 19. The fun starts at 3pm!
Summer Field Trips and Island Explorations
The sun is out and our summer field trip program is back! We're so excited to be getting out and about, and this summer we're planning two awesome outdoor adventures every week.
We'll be exploring beaches, parks, and
free attractions throughout our city, and we've also decided to make a closer study of one famous locale: Granville Island and the False Creek Seawall.
There is so much to see and do on Granville Island! The markets! The waterpark! The amphitheatre, and duck pond. Art galleries, Arts Umbrella, artists and performances! We knew we'd have to go back more than once, and we include Olympic Village, Habitat Island, and False Creek playgrounds, we wanted to visit every week!
So we will! In fact, we're even going to kick off the Island Explorations early:
On Friday June 26, we'll be taking the kids down to check out the Cloudmakers Trio as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Fest.
(Running from June 18 - July 1. Check it out!)
Fieldtrips are a lot of fun, and to make sure we can fit in all the summer adventures, in July and August, they will run from 1 - 5pm (instead of the normal 4pm finish). To participate, please book the whole afternoon.
