60 Second Inspirations
Jeff Oliver's career has him traveling internationally on a regular basis. He found himself always lacking sleep, eating poorly and missing workouts. His tipping point came when he realized even when he was home, he was missing out on his family's lives because he wasn't making his health a priority. He credits Bay Athletic Club for making it possible for him to keep working and keep creating memories with his family. Tune in this Monday night as we share Jeff's story in our popular "60 Second Inspirations" series.

HEALTHY EATS!

Spring Rice Noodle Bowl
This fresh, fast and easy to assemble noodle bowl is perfect for a weeknight dinner. Best of all, it is delicious hot, cold or room temp. You can't beat that for a recipe in the Spring, when temperatures fluctuate so drastically day to day. Summer is on its way but enjoy the Thai inspired flavors of this noodle bowl before everything is all strawberries.

Ingredients:
-4 oz. rice noodles, dry
-4 oz. cooked protein (pork, chicken, tofu, seitan are great)
-1 onion, chopped into large chunks
-1 TBSP oil
-2 cups of steamed snap peas
-1 TBSP sesame seed oil
-4 TBSP chives, diced
-2 TBSP chopped peanuts
-1 lime, cut for garnish
-1 bunch of cilantro, stems removed

Bring a large pot of water to boil.  When it begins to boil, in a very wide pan or wok, place the oil in the wok and heat over high heat. Add the noodles to the pot and the onions to the oil in the wok. Steam the snap peas in the microwave for 4 minutes, covered. Stir the noodles frequently to avoid clumping and stir the onions almost constantly to avoid any blackening. When the onions look limp, push them to one side of the wok and add the protein to another side to warm. Turn off the heat and cover. Drain noodles in a colander. Add noodles to the wok, along with the snap peas, and sesame seed oil. Toss together well. Remove 1 serving (about 1 and half cups of noodles and veggies) to a bowl. Add half the protein and garnish with cilantro and lime. Serves two.

Are you proud to live a fit life?

Jeff Oliver lights up when he  talks  about how much fitness has changed his life. When my kids and I were traveling to Madison to visit my family over Spring Break recently,  we ran into Jeff at the airport, his home away from home as a busy international traveler. In fact, we were there when Delta celebrated his entrance into the million mile club.

As a working mom, it was fun for my kids to hear how much Jeff cares for Bay Athletic Club and appreciates the club's role in his life. It helps us all have a greater understanding of why we do what we do at BAC. We are in the business of transforming lives. Jeff reinforced that.

When Jeff talks about the club, he is both proud and is protective of it. He said that he strives to set a good example in the weight room by being respectful of others and the space. He talked about how happy he was that both his wife Tammy and mother Joyce are avid BAC members as well.

I knew it was time for us to tell Jeff's story.

As an non-stop traveler, Jeff Oliver fell into the trap of eating out late at night, missing sleep and not exercising.  Because of his career, he has
been on planes every week for many years.  In fact, he just hit the million mile mark. However, Jeff says he would have NOT reached that million mark without Bay Athletic Club because it actually saved him from his unhealthy habits.

Four years ago Jeff, was 250 pounds with high blood pressure and cholesterol at the 240 mark.  He was tired constantly and always out of breath.  He already missed so much time with his family for work, but now he was missing making memories when he was home because he could barely keep up.

One entire summer was ruined when he tweaked his back while planting a garden and ended up in a lazy boy recovering.   Physical therapy helped him heal, but Jeff knew he needed to be proactive, so he joined Bay Athletic Club.

During his time as a member much has changed.

He works out at Bay Athletic Club when he is in town and goes to the hotel gyms while traveling.  He cut back on red-meat and alcohol while traveling and has completely cut out fast food.
Jeff's waist line has shrunk, he shed 25 pounds, his upper body strength has increased and he has energy all the time.

He is no longer short of breath and can travel with ease because he is in shape and able to move quickly.
He also credits his new lifestyle to giving him more focus on the job.  He writes (writes or creates?) software for large industrial machines, which cost millions of dollars, so he needs to bring his "A game."

Jeff's whole life is better.  He loves his job, but creating memories with his family was his driving force to seek change.

We are proud of you, Jeff, and happy to be a chapter in your  story of life.

Sincerely, Trina Gray, Owner, Bay Athletic Club

FUN ANNOUNCEMENT! BAC TRAINERS TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL TEST GROUP!

Sarah Morrison and Trina Gray were selected out of 400,000 fitness coaches to participate in a test group with around 200 other coaches across the country. Starting May 8th, they will be testing out a new fitness program and workout, called The Shift Shop that Beachbody will launch this summer, created by super trainer Chris Downing, from Ohio.

The philosophy is to strengthen your mind and body in a tough, but fun workout for all levels. The workouts start at 25-minutes and progress to 45-minutes over the course of three weeks. The total body workout uses colorful cones among other tools to set up a creative workout with minimal equipment and maximum output. Trina and Sarah will also follow a custom food plan to eat colorful, whole foods that are high in protein, healthy fats and superfoods and low in starchy carbs. How will this help our members at BAC? Lots of ways!

-We simply love bringing new ideas and tools back to BAC.
-We are committed to growing and learning, just like we attend fitness conventions and certifications.
-If we love it, we will look for ways to incorporate The Shift Shop at BAC, in live Fit Clubs, as a potential future boot camp or challenge group, or a group fitness class if it becomes a certification.
-We will have the inside scoop on a great new food plan and recipes that members can invest in and use as well.
We will have fun sharing our journey to inspire YOU!
