New Cargo Flight Positions Pittsburgh as Logistics Center

Thursday marks a major win for the region with the arrival of Qatar Airways Cargo, Pittsburgh's first dedicated cargo airline. Qatar Airways Cargo is the world's third largest cargo carrier and serves 60 exclusive freighter destinations worldwide via its state of the art hub in Doha.

 

The twice weekly 777 freighter service represents a multi-million dollar investment in the region by bringing 200 tons of cargo per week to and from Europe and the Middle East that creates additional jobs and increases the economic impact the airport has on the region.

Airport Authority to Conduct Public Auction Saturday, Oct. 14
The Allegheny County Airport Authority will conduct a public auction of abandoned vehicles, used Airport Authority vehicles and equipment, and other unclaimed items from Pittsburgh International Airport at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 in the Heavy Equipment Building on Cargo Road. (Doors open at 8:30 a.m.)

There will be a 15 percent buyer's premium with 5 percent waived for cash or check purchase. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. Payment, inclusive of any taxes and fees, must be made in full at time of auction.

First Time Flyers Course Offered Saturday, Oct. 28


Flying for the first time can be an overwhelming experience. Pittsburgh International Airport is here to help make your first time journey pleasant and enjoyable. First Time Flyers: From Booking to Boarding is a comprehensive, on-site course that walks first time or inexperienced flyers through Pittsburgh International Airport's travel process and shows you what to expect at the airport.

The next course is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
